25 years later ToTo is still explosive,
By
This review is from: 25th Anniversary: Live in Amsterdam (Audio CD)
I've been a ToTo fan since their inception in 1977. I was fortunate enough to see and hear them live in New Orleans during the 1985 Isolation Tour. After watching this live video and listening to the live cd I can see and hear the energy level in their music like it was still 1977. This is a powerful live performance that will leave you with a greater respect for their musical ability. These guys are some of the most respected players in the music industry and have been for a few decades. It's nice knowing that they are still performing and influencing the younger generation of apprentice musicians.

This review is from: 25th Anniversary: Live in Amsterdam (Audio CD)
This is an AWESOME album and DVD!!! I don't know what happened to Mr. Christopher who just gave one star to this album, but this CD is just amazing. 25 years!! WOW!!! And still with the same finesse and musical touch that has characterized Toto through the years!! Lukather? Amazing! Paich? Superb!! Porcaro!! Groovy!! Spinner? Fabulous!! Kimball? Incredible!! The medleys are just fabulous!!! If you like Toto, or music in general PLEASE, DO BUY THIS ALBUM!!!

I hve all toto's cd's, seen them 2 times, and I'm from ct, wherethe 3 brothers are from . This is a good live cd, the songs sound crisp, clean, and yet raw , meaning theres a little edge to them but not to the point where your not listening to a toto cd, meaning the sound is great which you get when you listen to a toto cd. When I go to a concert I want the songs and sound to sound just like the cd I bought and when you see toto in concet thats just what you get. I liked the arrangements on the songs the vocals were good but his voice sounded a little weak on a couple songs but I know he has a great singing voice . The playing is outstanding of course and this is a good cd if your a toto fan, or just a music fan

Un deuxième album Live pour Toto !,
This review is from: 25th Anniversary: Live in Amsterdam (Audio CD)
Bravo. Best : While Guitar Gently Weeps, Lion, Waiting For Your Love, Dune, White Sister, l'intro. Plus d info sur : www.totofrance.com

Another essential live album,

This review is from: 25th Anniversary: Live in Amsterdam (Audio CD)
There aren't that many bands in rock history to have released one essential live CD, and of those who have, most have diminished it's power by releasing a whole bunch more that should have stayed locked away. Finding an exception to any such rule usually involves looking to TOTO, whose previous live effort "Livefields" was a killer album, designed especially for the hard core fans. This one is a more commercial release - all their US top 10 hits (okay, yes, there were only 4) are here - but it's just as good, and, at last there's a great live version of "Rosanna" out there (Check out the keyboard solo from...Steve Lukather!). Of course, this is merely a cutdown release of the tracks featured on the concurrently released DVD, but it's something you can have on anytime, anywhere. It also cuts out most of the talking, meaning it flows like a best-of that's had a bit more thought put into it than one thrown together by Sony. Oh, and it also rocks big time, in case you were wondering.

TOTO - LIVE IN AMSTERDAM DVD,

I have seen at least one show of every Toto tour since 1986, and for me this captures one of their best. Whilst the hits were necessarily included to appeal to a wider fan base, there is ample album material and new arrangements for musicians and discerning music fans. Toto fanatics and cynics alike can get a flavour of the humour of this band on the band's own backstage video footage. Even if Toto don't achieve the recognition they deserve in their lifetime's, this DVD will be an excellent testimony to what Eddie Van Halen described as "collectively the best musicians on the planet". Fantastic post-production on both visual and especially the surround sound audio mixes.

The musicians in TOTO are, quite simply, the best in the business. I've been a TOTO fan for a long time, but even my familiarity with their studio recordings didn't prepare me for the thrill of a live recording. The song selection is excellent, covering their entire career, though they left off a couple I had hoped to hear. Their musicianship is flawless. The DVD is even more amazing - I can only imagine what it must be like to be at a huge, sold-out TOTO show. Too bad they aren't as big in the U. S. as they are in Europe.

I think this is Toto's best live cd out of 3 that I own. The thing stands out the most to me is the tremendous drumming performance of Simon Phillips from start to finish, especially on the last track HOME OF THE BRAVE. The whole band sounds great though from Steve Lukather's excellent guitar playing to Bobby Kimball's vocals. The song selection is pretty good including some songs that you dont here very often like GIFT WITH THE GOLDEN GUN from the TURN BACK cd. I highly recomend this cd to all Toto fans.

If you like TOTO AOR style, the soft rock TOTO does, you'll be surprised for this hi-energy show. The David Paich vocals are incredible (always on top), Luke's guitar are amazing... what more can you say about Simon Phillips on the drum kit, and Porcaro's bass & Kimball's vocals and keys are remarkable.Don't waste time reading reviews....Go and get this album & DVD !!! |
