Product Description

Battic Door Attic Stair Cover Fits 25" x 54" Attic Stairs - R-50 Reflective Insulation included. THE BEST KIT AVAILABLE: includes stair cover and R-50 Reflective Insulation kit. (maximize the benefits by insulating your stair cover). Includes everything you need to quickly and easily seal and insulate your stairs. Fastest and easiest installation - NO TOOLS! Add insulation on the sides, or leave off for clearance between trusses. We are the ORIGINAL and the BEST - Preferred by Contractors. Hundreds and hundreds of very satisfied customers: "I purchased the Battic Door attic stair cover. I can't believe the difference it makes! The furnace does not turn on NEARLY as often as it did before. Great product, and worth every penny!" --Felix F. The Battic Door Attic Stair Cover is an energy-saving device that covers pull-down/folding attic stairways, reducing air leakage and heating/cooling loss. A significant amount of heat loss in a typical home is caused by air leakage through folding attic stairway openings. These openings cause tremendous air leakage, which very often goes unnoticed. This low cost, patented, unique device can be installed easily in minutes to cover, insulate and reduce air transfer between the house and the attic space. It is light, low cost, and folds flat for low cost shipping and compact storage. Our unique design fits 25-25.5 x 54 rough openings, and has been engineered to fit virtually any folding attic stairway. The Battic Door is priced very economically and has a large immediate and long-term benefit that is easy to see. Payback for the homeowner is months, not years. The Battic Doors benefits are year-round, in Summer HEAT and Winter COLD!New - buy factory direct! See other listing for 22x54 size. If your door is 24" wide this is the correct size. If your door is 21" wide, see our 22x54 (other listing).

The product consists of a cardboard box, a sheath of reflective material and two stips of batting insulation. The box was torn & the tabs would't stay in their slots. The seller sent another box promptly - also torn. I wrote the seller, who said the box was still ok even if it was torn & didn't send another. Good product idea, mediocre quality, prompt email response but no intention to improve.

On the plus side, it was quick and easy to put together, and, albeit the box needs some reinforcement to be able to last (I will tape the torn sections and the edges of the box to make them more durable). If the quality were better, I'd recommend purchasing it since the functionality you get for the time and money invested is a decent trade off.

A neighbor got this model for $100, but the Corning Pink attic door cover is better for $50. Notice some of these covers are going for $200, and of course Home Depot charges $300. Yes, attic insullation is needed, but everyone except Corning wants to overcharge for attic door covers. PTB

It looked good on paper December 9, 2009

Because of the sheer mass of this assembled unit, we found it impossible to get it in between the 22 inch bays and when lifted end up; it did not clear the trusses. I was necessary to not use the box that was provided to form the inside structure. With other cardboard and a lot of duct tape we have it working. It is now doing what it was designed to do. The parts and the design that were given us did not work in our attic. I suggest you measure the distance between your trusses and consider what would happen when you need to lift it off to get into the attic. Where will it go --is there enough clearance? We could have bought the parts from the hardware store and built it our self cheaper. Again being fair, we were able to modify it and get it to work however.

It works and it was easy to install. That's all that matters to me.
My husband did not want to buy the Battic because he did not want to be bothered installing it. I begged because the cold air from the attic makes our master closet, bathroom and... Read more

Attic Stair Cover
This item installed easily and works great, only issue is with foam that adheres to frame of stairs. The foam sometimes folds over when the staircase is opened. Read more

I made my own
I used the idea for this product but made my own by using 3/4" ridgid poly styrene insulation from Home depot for 13.51 for a 4' X 8' sheet. Read more

Works great.
The product works just as it promises and is very simple to install. It fit over my attic door and there is no longer air flow from my the attic to my house.

Warm breeze
The Attic stair cover was shipped in two separate packages that assembled quite easily. The outer reflective cover fit snug around the cardboard frame. Read more

POOR
The picture shows it standing on its own; WELL IT DOES NOT, at least to hold the insulation up. I had to buy boards to frame the sides.

Pick something else than this...
Expensive garbage. Cardboard box, reflective fabric and 2 pieces of insulation and some weathersrtipping. There are much cheaper and easier to use options than this.
