The bad news: This Christmas morning the base of this steel stand rusted through and let water pour all over our carpet. The good news: We've been using this stand for 30 years! The lever type screws to secure the tree are sometimes hard to use, but this is the only drawback to an otherwise superior design. We've never had a problem with unsteady trees with this stand. We highly recommend it!!!

This is fairly inexpensive and wholly adequate for a 7 foot tree. The tree sits onto a metal bowl with some teeth. These teeth don't dig well into the tree. Maybe it is not designed to. The screws hold a 7 foot tree well. However, I'd be hesitant to use it on anything much bigger.

I used this for the first time this year to hold an 8" tree and it worked great. I was able to shift and even rotate the tree without it falling over. It held water with no sign of rust (so far). Overall, I am satisfied with it.
