If not the best, it is one of the best dog books I have read and I have read several. The book is written with the reader in mind and flows as you read. I read cover to cover as soon as I opened it and now go back to get answers to questions that pop up. I just reread the chapter on Dog Allergies and while I had the book open took another look at Expensive Gifts to Buy Your Dog. Most dog lovers on my gift list this year will find this truly fun and educational book in their stocking. I hope there is a new one in the wings.Be sure to take the Dog Nut quiz at the end.Your dog will love you for buying this book.

What a great, uplifting book - for all dog lovers! The authors captured great topics with light easy reading paragraphs on each topic. I have read it twice and plan to read it again. The book is like a big Dog Magazine with short interesting chapters!

This is a great beach-reading book. Each chapter is short (1-3 pages long) and discusses the coolest topics! if you love your dog, get this book! I am looking forward to the author's second edition!

I am a first time dog owner at age 50. 277 Secrets Your Dog Want You to Know is a fantastic book to read for it contains secrets that are absolutely essential for this inexperienced owner. My only regret is that I didn't read it before I got my puppy. However, this book is not just for new dog owners, as it contains a wealth of easy to read information. Every secret is great, but some of the ones that I read first were about massaging your dog, about the behavior of Nicole Brown Simpson's Akita, how to take you dog on an airline flight, which breed the celebrities had, and too many others to mention! The book will make a wonderful gift for any dog owner. Run to your nearest bookstore and ask them to order it if it's not on the shelf. And, while you order one, better order two because everyone that sees it, will want one! It's no secret that I give it a 10! Halen Foste

I found thie book to be informative, humorous and very quick reading. Condensed in this one book is the information I have sought, spending many hours reading other canine books. I immediately passed it on to my dog-loving friends. Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks! Kitty Burges

book that attempts to answer everyday questions about dogs,

This review is from: 277 Secrets Your Dog Wants You to Know: A Doggie Bag of Unusual and Useful Information (Paperback)
While the authors have their hearts in the right place, I found their answers to be simplistic and generally falling in line with what a dog lover would want to hear. It's not a compilation of research that the authors have done; rather, it is a compilation of other authors and things that they have written about dogs. The writing style bothered me too... although this could be a personal peave that bothers only me. I felt like I was reading a National Enquirer or Globe article in the line at the grocery store - not of the "my baby is an alien" variety, but along the same lines as a "news" story on whether dogs can talk to cats, for instance.

No more Humpy-Toy!,
By A Customer
This review is from: 277 Secrets Your Dog Wants You to Know: A Doggie Bag of Unusual and Useful Information (Paperback)
This is another book review by Wolfie and Kansas, the boonie dogs from Toto, Guam. "277 Secrets" is the sort of book that justifies humanity's existence. For example, the chapter entitled "21 Spots Your Dog Loves to Have Scratched, Tickled, Touched, Petted, Rubbed or Massaged" should replace the Ten Commandments as a guide to human conduct.
We do have a few reservations about this book. It is the type of collection of lists and factoids that should be read just a chapter or two at a time, and not straight through. Also, some of the information in "277 Secrets" is outdated. In the chapter on "15 Unusual Gifts You Can Buy Your Dog", one of the gifts is a Humpy-Toy. It is described as "a long, fluffy hot dog-shaped pillow" for dogs who like "to mount furniture and people's legs." As Kansas is broken (what you humans euphemistically call "fixed"), we wrote to the address given in the book to order a Humpy-Toy for Wolfie. Our letter was returned marked "Forwarding Order Expired". Hopefully Ms. Cooper and Mr. Noble will come out with a new, updated edition with a current address for Humpy-Toy orders.
