Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

A number of features are hidden inside the sleekly unusual triangular base of the GE 27998GE1. The 14 minutes of answering space are totally digital, and the system includes convenient options like call screening, time/date stamps for each message, power failure protection, and remote message check, all operable from the interactive handset. With subscription to local services, caller ID with call waiting allows you to know who's on calling with just a glance, and provides instant call return through the call storage memory.

The 2.4 GHz range and analog transmission guarantees a clean connection--and in case of any interference, the phone scans automatically through 40 channels to find just the right one. Or if you prefer, you may manually select a channel. Either way, a digital security system protects against signal theft. Additional features include a handset with volume control, headset jack, belt clip and three-line LCD screen that supplies access to all caller ID features and to the 10-station speed dial. The manufacturer includes a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad unit except no battery backup, September 30, 2003

This phone gave me all I needed in features:
*Cordless phone
*Caller ID
*Answering maching with digital read out
*PLUS you can review the calls from the handset instead of sitting by the machine.

I only have three problems with the unit:
1. The cordless clairity could be better
2. There is no date recorded with the message just time/day so if I end up saving a message for the future, I don't know what date it was recorded on. Not a real big deal.
3. There is no battery backup for the answering machine clock which is a BIG deal for me. It might have a small backup battery but in just moving the machine from one room to another I had to reset the clock and day which I can only assume that every time the power goes out, all new messages will have the wrong time until I set it again. This is not a hard thing to do but why not put a battery in it so you don't have to?

All things considered for less than $50 I guess I will keep it.
