This review is from: SIGMA LENS 28-300mm f3.5-6.3 Compact Aspherical Hyperzoom SLR Camera Lens (Electronics)
This is an excellent lens. Note: I own the one with Minolta mount but I would imagine the ones made for Canon or Nikon differ only in mount. I was really skeptical at first because it's so much cheaper than the ones made by original manufacturer but I decided to give it a try since it's not all that expensive, relatively speaking. My lens arrived. The thing comes neatly packed with a big lens hood and a multilingual manual. The lens itself feels sturdy and well made. Very solid. To my surprise, it is made in Japan. Not that it matters all that much in this day and age but I thought anything made in Japan would've cost a lot more than what I paid for this.

Lens comes with a zoom lock to prevent slippage. Filter size 62mm. The lens works very well, but with some issue. Auto-focus requires that there is a good amount of light, otherwise it either can't find the object to focus on or it takes a long time to focus. Even when there's a lot of light, auto-focus is slightly slower than my original cheap Minolta lens. Therefore, I will NOT recommend anyone to purchase this lens for the purpose of shooting sports-action.

On the other hand, the two large SLD (Super-Low Dispersion) glasses captures good image details while showing little distortions. Image quality is great.

In conclusion, if you don't mind manual focusing, then this lens is perfect for its price. Auto-focusing is still usable but a little bit slow.
