Poorly designed room monitor, defective key on one handset, September 26, 2009
This review is from: GE 28223EJ3 Dect 6.0 Digital Cordless Speakerphone System (Office Product)
I had a bad experience with this phone system. One handset had a non-functional "3" button, although that might just be a one-time issue and I'm sure they would've replaced it. But I sent it back because of the poorly thought-out room monitor, which is what drew my attention to this particular product.
The room monitor itself seems to function just fine, but the handsets can only remain connected to the room monitor while undocked. That means you have to run down the handset batteries any time you want to use the room monitor, even if you move the base to where you'll use it. Almost every room monitor I've seen allows both the transmitter and receiver to run AC power for overnight monitoring. This is impossible with this product.
I also noticed that when in use, the room monitor is much noisier than our last room monitor. More static, less audio from the room. I saw that the next model up from this claims better sound quality, but that's a big price increase to get what I consider basic functionality.

Awesome functionality, decent sound, tricky to learn to use, July 18, 2009
This review is from: GE 28223EJ3 Dect 6.0 Digital Cordless Speakerphone System (Office Product)
I bought this system because I wanted to avoid stringing cables all over my home. It is a success. I can place these phones any place I want. Love the speaker phone in particular, as it has a rechargable battery and needs no cable at all except when charging! Sound quality is just fair though and since this system has endless functionality - far more than I need - it is tedious to scroll through all the menus and figure out how to use it. There are some oddly frustrating features like you can pick any of ten ring tones from the ring tone menu but they ALL sound annoying; not nearly as pleasant as the ring from a $10 old fashioned phone! Overall I'm grateful for this system - good price too! But I wish they had NOT let the engineers run hog wild, but instead called in some ergonomics experts to focus the effort.
