There are few games that make my 'favorite' list, and World of Goo is one of them. I have it on my PC, my Androids (both Amazon and a DRM-free version), my Wii, my Linux computer, and in my Steam account. If I had any Apple devices, then I'd have it on there, too. I love playing this game; it has serious replayability mojo with trying different ways to achieve the goal.

2D Boy developer is an "indie" developer - two guys, actually - and started from the bottom up with this game. It has won more awards than 99% of all other games, and for good reason. Superb gameplay, an intriguing script, wonderful soundtrack (which, incidentally, they give away for free), and lovable protagonists.

I don't like the Network Access permission, but from playing on the other devices I know it is for a unique twist on the multiplayer/leaderboard where you can compete to build the highest tower. Turning off the access should otherwise not harm the game, and given the history of this app I trust the developers wholly, which, if you have read my other reviews, is truly saying a LOT!

Get this epic game, regardless of platform, at least once. You'll be glad you did. :)

P.S., no I don't know or have any affiliations with the developer; I just happen to have witnessed the rise of this game from beta, and think this game is better than most major label games ever produced.

[EDIT: changed review to indicate that I have the Amazon version as well, edited the versions and devices, added why I love the game, and inserted a missing word in the network permission sentence.]

5.0 out of 5 stars Highest Quality Game on Amazon November 5, 2012

This game has great art, sound, and, mechanics compared to normal app store games. It was originally a $20 pc game that won numerous awards so its a steal for $5 and also has a much higher production value then any app. Just buy it!

Very lucky to have checked free app of the day early Christmas morning. I see the regular price is $5 bucks, after playing this for hours- I would pay that for this app.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the $5 price! October 21, 2012
I haven't bought the Amazon version yet, but I have the Mac version, the Steam version, the iPhone version, and the regular Android version, so I thought I'd post a review since people are mainly judging it on price alone.

This game is really fun. It has 48 levels divided into four chapters. The first few are pretty easy, but then they get harder. Luckily, you can skip any, unlike other games, so it's not a game you get frustrated with then put it to the side and never come back to.

Besides the gameplay, it has beautiful visuals and awesome music. Look up "Kyle Gabler" and "World of Goo" on your favorite search engine and you'll find a page with downloads in various formats, and some track notes from Kyle himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars And old Indie legend December 28, 2012
Verified Purchase
This is pretty much the game that brought indie games into the limelight.

Simple, addictive, funny, casual, some strategic depth, but easy to play for all ages and skill levels would sum this game up in a sentence. I don't want to rehash too much from other reviews.

The graphics after years are not showing their age at all. The cartoony feel is still great and modern. The strategy and fun factors have not changed with age either.

This game has a metascore from all pro-reviewers of 90% which is superb for an Indie game.

The original release was not in 2012.. it's been around on the PC since OCt 13, 2008.

Hope that helps!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a bit of a fun game
I like this game, but I don't love it. There are issues with it, and I think I would like it a lot more if it weren't on a touchscreen.

World of Goo won't install on my phone
I'm having the exact same problem only on my Nexus 7 (4.2.1 as well).

I was so psyched to see this app was free today. Played it on PC a while back and loved the feel on a tablet when I downloaded the demo. Just wasn't up for paying 5 bucks for it since I've played through it before.
