5.0 out of 5 stars What a great price worked great.
This 2Wire wireless modem did not come with any needed wires luckily I was just replacing an old modem and already had the needed cords. Other than that my order came 3 days after ordering in great shape. No software came with it and is not needed. I plugged it into my computer and it went right to the 2Wire site and the site walked me through the needed steps to install...

AT&T DSL service only supports and sells this wireless router (wired only isn't offered) for new installations. The ethernet seems to work OK, but the wireless is unreliable. Downloads are problematic -- a 760 MB file may take minutes to over an hour or die with DSL service one below Elite. AT&T support was required to configure wireless with WPA. The wireless worked fine the first few days, but lately internet sessions would drop without warning. Even worst, one internet session supported, a second usually isn't -- you get complaint about URL does not exist. Connection to URLs is slow -- about a minute. Sometimes, restarting solves this, but it's a real pain. The distance between the router and laptop is about 60 feet, and the wireless setting is set for 400 mw (which is the maximum). Other wired and wireless routers I had never had this problem. When I have the time I'll try a different manufacturer for wired with wireless router. 2Wire doesn't have support wrt to setup software for Windows 7 OS same for AT&T setup -- you must http to the default gateway address for setup. The router is a piece of junk, and I paid over $[...] ($[...] + postage & handling). Windows 8 browser is very slow over wireless. Mozilla 5.0 is faster and more reliable.

I plugged it into my computer and it went right to the 2Wire site and the site walked me through the needed steps to install other computers to my network using 2Wire adapters. This company KikaEnterprises though Amazon has the lowest prices on used and refurbished 2Wire wireless modems I have found. I would have had to pay 90.00 new at the brick stores. I have this modem upstairs in my apartment the grandkids each have an adapter on their computers downstairs in my son's apartment and it is working flawlessly.

If you have a iBook, iMac, or any other Apple computer with a Airport card, you can set up this Modem with ease, wirelessly, but don't drive yourself crazy and go it alone, call your internet provider and have them walk you through it. After 3 hours of messing with the disks and trying to install the unit using the CD's and paperwork that came with the unit, I was surfing the net after a quick 15 min call to my internet provider. You first have to plug the unit into the power supply, when the power light stops flashing, then connect the phone cord to the modem. You can then set up the unit by entering the 192.###.1.###.# number into your browser, all dictated to you via your service provider's customer support. There's a built in firewall, but once you entered the password (serial number on the back of the unit) your computer is good to go. People complain that DSL is slow but I have not run into that problem, "I'm running DSL lite (Bellsouth-AT&T) and I download 4 mb MP3's in about 15-25 seconds. Pages load up quickly, including content heavy Myspace pages."
This beats the $120 modem my provider wanted to sell me, or $75 for a modem without the wireless capabilities. And the modem is yours to keep!! Your modem can be placed anywhere as long as there is a phone jack and power cord available, and this unit does not have to ever be connected to a computer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked witht he Macs for 6 months, but the...., December 12, 2008
This review is from: 2Wire 2700HG-B DSL Modem Router Wireless (Electronics)
I purchased one of these routers from Amazon back in August, and it worked really well. But recently, I began to lose my wifi signal to my wireless devices (Macbook, iPhone, Roku Netflix Player). I'll be happily surfing the net from my Macbook, and then, it'll just drop out. And after I try to find the signal to connect again, and I cannot do so until I reset some of the settings on the router. I cannot keep a connection for more than 7-10 minutes, then the modem resets fro 5-10 minutes, and the signal appears again. After doing some research (google: 2wire 2700 signal drop), I've found that this is a problem, especially on Mac computers--though my buddy's xp laptop also loses connection quite often. Called the seller's tech support, and they said it was out of warranty, and that the antennas had probably gone bad! VERY FRUSTRATING!!! But, if all you need is a wireless modem, and have no plans to use this as a router, then you should be fine. I can still use the 2wire when connected via ethernet, just a hassle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad product died in just 9 months, May 29, 2010

I will highly recommend not to buy this product. I got this modem from At&t store. At first it looks good, setup and installation is ok. But after one week the problem get started, it show you solid green light on Internet but it's not allow me to connect. I need to reboot couple of times and then it will start working again. This is a same story every week and month. Finally it died today in just 9 months.

So I thought, it would be a great to make review on this product, so one else lose their money. Some final words.

4.0 out of 5 stars A solid all-in-one DSL box, March 28, 2008

This product was appealing at three levels
* It had a very competent set of features
* It combined DSL modem, router, wireless access point and switch
* At re-furb pricing, it was a real value

Reading reviews, on-line manuals, and checking with friends confirmed that 2wire and this particular model were pretty solid. DSL setup was a snap since it 'self discovers' the majority of settings (AT&T is my isp). The router configuration and features are pretty average - neither good nor lousy. The integrated reports and diagnostics are superior - close to business routers. The wireless signal that it puts out is quite strong, even without external/adjustable antenna. It delivers 'G' level performance in areas of my home that have always had signal issues.

The all-in-one design was key to reducing techno clutter in my home office. Even now I have 10 separate plugs and power supplies at my desk - enough already. This unit replaced a 'vintage' stand alone DSL modem and an integrated wireless router/switch.

After working in high tech for years, I've gotten over a lot of lust for being on the cutting (bleeding) edge. Buying refurb/used provides access to some excellent equipment at pennies on the dollar. And if you make a bad choice, you're only out pennies, not dollars.

Two weeks after setup, no complaints. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this item to someone looking to either upgrade or consolidate equipment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wireless..you bet!, November 25, 2007

The right product for the right price. This item got me from down from a seperate modem & router to a combination modem/router. At twenty ($20) bucks, you can't beat the price for this item, heck a new router alone costs ~$50.

I bought this modem/wireless router to replace a CenturyTel provided modem and a Linksys router. The 2Wire works very smoothly. It was a breeze to setup with very few values to be entered on the site. Linksys had too many settings to worry about.
The item may have been used but it works perfectly with only a few very minor blemishes (who cares, right?) I would definitely recommend this for anyone, especially those that are new to routers. It doesn't get much easier than this.

this is what it advertises itself to be, an 802.11g modem/router/wireless. that's a wireless speed of 54 mega bit per second. that's really only 24 mega bits per second tops and the further away you get from the access point/modem/router the slower the speed. further away also means if the signal is going through the walls or floor of your house.2WIRE 2700HG ADSL DSL MODEM WIRELESS G ROUTER FIREWALL
