Do y'know what the sad part is?, February 22, 2000
This review is from: 2gether (Audio CD)
The sad part is this: If 2gether's "hits", like Calculus, Before We Say Goodbye, and my personal fav 2gether had sappier lyrics, they would rise to the top of the pop charts. Tell me I'm not speaking the truth! I loved the movie, but, I have a compliant about the CD and movie: they were both too short! The movie was like an hour long, and the CD is about 38 minutes. All those dang commericals on Mtv for 2 months, and we don't even get 2hours worth of products! I loved the CD, for the material it had. Don't buy this until after you've seen the movie (don't worry, chances are that Mtv will rerun it over and over and over..). You actually begin to kinda like the group, and if I was 12 years old, or a girl, or both, I would like 2gether more than the BsB or Nsync. They have the boy-band formula down pat. 2gether is their Everybody (backstreet's back)/Tearing Up my Heart, Before we say Goodbye is their slow-paced song (i.e. All I have To Give, God Must have Spent), Say It (Don't spray it) is their medium-paced song (think Quit Playing Games or I Want You back) and U+me=Us (Calculus) is their ultimate dance number with a hint of techno (like Bye Bye Bye and Larger Than Life). The "karaoke" track is a waste of CD space though. I wish they just had MORE SONGS! Like, maybe 14 tracks on the CD would have been satisfying. This CD is pretty cool though. I have to say, I think the coolest member of 2gether is either Chad (the shy one) or Mickey (the bad boy), but anyway..... the Bottom Line is: if you like the movie, get this CD. You'll never look at Math the same way.

Awsome soundtrack, Awsome Tv Movie, May 28, 2000
This review is from: 2gether (Audio CD)
First off the soundtrack was cool. the Tv movie was cool also. But the booklet to the Cd could have been better by including lyrics. 1). 2gether- This song was cool. Good opening to the CD. I thinmg this is an awsome song one of the best songs. 4.5/5 2).U+Me=Us- Awsome song starts out really slow but then turns into a dance hit. definetly the #1 song on the album! 5/5 3). Rub one out- Starts out to be a song you think you will hate but you end up liking it. But also a kind of weird song talking about sexual topics. 4/5 4). Say it (dont spray it)- By Far the Funniest song on the album. After you here 4 or 5 times it's boring. 3.5/5 5). Before we say good bye- A good sweet song. I like it. In the chores theres a funny part. 4.3/5 6). Visualize (Q.T.s solo)- A cool song by the youngest member of 2gether. It's not a funny song it's serious. 5/5 7). You're my baby girl-A nice song. I like the chores. Again this is a song you here that you like. It also makes a comment on Gwaneth Paltrow. 4/5 8). Breaking all the rules- A cool song. I like it. A cool song by another fake boy band Unity. I like it. 5/5 9). U+Me=Us (Dream maker club mix)- This is the song you see on TRL and MTV i think. It has Carson Daly's voice in it. I rate this 5/5 10). Rub one out (karoke mix)- This is why they should have givin words to the songs. You have to listen to Rub one out at least 3 times or more to know the lyrics. I rate this 2.5/5 This is a cool Cd I like it. This whole Cd would have to have a 4.5/5 If you like the Backstreet boys and Nsync you will like 2gether!

As a parody, it's great!, April 27, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: 2gether (Audio CD)
OK, for the people who don't understand (though a lot of you do), the album is a spoof on boy bands. So if the songs aren't phenomenal musically...well, the point is not to make great music. If I was rating this CD on its impact on the music culture and its ability to win grammys, I'd give it one star. Cuz it isn't meant to do that. It isn't meant to be high-quality, classic music. It's supposed to be entertaining and funny, at which it succeedes. Anyone who at one point in time was a teenybopper (oh, and I was a big one) can understand the humor behind these jokes, unless you are kinda crazy obsessive. And people who didn't like them will enjoy having something that they've always thought put into a tangible form (though they'd probably enjoy the movie more, since the music itself is very similar to boy band music, the lyrics are the real difference). On the same note, the people who are grading this and saying, "What a great song! They have great voices!" you guys are also kind of missing the point. In fact, it is really interesting to see how pervasive boy bands are into our culture, in that something spoofing them ends up being popular with the TRL crowd as well. It must be a darn good spoof if it rings so true to life that the teenyboppers start cheering for the spoofers as well as the spoofees. So I guess my point is- guys, it's a spoof. A joke. A parody. to the people who think the quality of the music sucks, take it for what it is. For the people who think the music is great and the band is oh-my-god so hot, again take the CD for what it is. It is a funny, light-hearted take on a po-culture phenomenon. I always keep it in my car, because it can brighten my day in an instant by making me smile. And despite it's cheesiness, that's worth something, no?
