As part of the "Class of '91", 2nd II None come at you just as real as anyone can get. This is a west coast street classic. This is a DJ Quik production which makes this an automatic hit when it comes to the music. With the street knowledge of KK and D, this album gets rewarded with 5 stars. They aren't the best lyricists in the world, but they do spit words of knowledge and wisdom that you would only hear from people of the street. This is the kind of CD that you can listen to without skipping a track. KK and D cover just about every basis of street life. From losing loved ones to keeping it "Player", you just can't go wrong this album. Must have in any rap collection.

these other dumb reviewers are saying " too much vulgar language" what? man-this is a street cd- stupid! this is another dope creation by dj quik. most of the tracks are dope. of course- like 99% of cd releases- it has a couple duds but...this has more hits than most artist can wish for in a life time! even the intro os bumping. what is up with church going people reviewing street music? yes this album has bad words- but - what else do you hear in the street? crack open a forty...light up a blunt....bump this cd! "more than a playa" is my favorite!

soild debut group album from KK & D,

KK & D (2 cousins) come hard & with Quik on the production and the lyrics of any of his pals, you know you getting some fonky beats and some funny & dirty lyrics. I still like their "Classic 220" album slightly better but this album is a great early 90's west coast release. Packed with 14 songs, none I skip, 2 are almost classic material, 4 are ok, the other 9 are good or great songs. Guest are the usual from their clique, DJ Quik, AMG, & Hi-C. If you don't want to hear dirty songs or vulgar alnguage then stay away from anything Quik and his pals are on cause that's basically all your goinbg to get. A must have for fans of early 90's west coast rap, the best kind if you ask me.#1 - 8.5 (short intro but tight) #2 - 9.5 (great sample of Al Green -- dirtry song f/ DJ Quik) #3 - 9 (dirty song w/ relaxxing beat) #4 - 8 #5 - 9.5 (great beat -- f/ AMG) #6 - 7 (f/ AMG, Hi-C, DJ Quik) #7 - 8 #8 - 9 (KK solo) #9 - 7.5 #10 - 8.5 (another dirty one -- f/ DJ Quik) #11 - 7.5 #12 - 7.5 #13 - 8 #14 - 8.5 (another dirty one -- f/ DJ quik, Hi-C, AMG) D ---- Deon Barrnett -- b. around 1973 -- Compton, CA KK --- K.McDonald -- b. around 1973 -- Compton, CA Check all my reviews

I remember listening to 2nd II None when I was in middle school, so when I seen that it was on amazon for purchase I got it. I've like the whole group of DJ Quik, AMG, Hi-C etc. I'm older now so it's just good to listen and think back of the old times when the West Coast pretty much was dominating in the early nineties!!!

"Let The Rhythm Take You All Night Long" (Rating: 7 out of 10- -3.5 stars),

After the sucess of DJ Quik's Quik Is the Name, many of his friends began releasing debut albums around that same year. One was 2nd II None's self titled debut album. Consiting of two cousins, KK and Tha D, shows a style of early DJ Quik when it comes to lyrics. The only problem is that there is far less substance between the two. Very little of their lyrics are rememberable. It's no mystery that the production here is mostly handled by DJ Quik, so expect the production to have the funk that was on his debut album. One would find a few tracks that easily stand out. "If You Want It" KK and D go back and forth over a up beat bass line. My favorite track on this album is "Let The Rhythm Take You" featuring AMG. That track vibes almost perfectly with the guitar and the keyboards. A few others tracks that are dope were "Ain't Nothin' Wrong", and the group cut "****** Trippin'" featuring DJ Quik, AMG, and Hi-C. The rest of the tracks that were unmentioned has solid production, but fails to stand out in any other way. 2nd II None's debut might hold high regards simply for nostalgia purposes. There are some good cuts here that outweigh the bad, but falls short of other west coast releases that came out in 1991. Fans of DJ Quik will like this album here, but others I would say listen to the audio samples before checking for this one here. Peace. Lyrics: C Production: B+ Guest Appearances: B Musical Vibes: B Top 5 Track: 1. Let The Rhythm Take You (featuring AMG) 2. ****** Trippin' (featuring DJ Quik, AMG, and Hi-C) 3. Ain't Nothin Wrong (featuring DJ Quik) 4. If You Want It 5. Intro Honorable Mention: 1. More Than A Player 2. What Goes Up

It took me 2 hours to find my favorite early 90s rappers! I searched and I searched! I gave up my tape to a friend to listen to and I never saw it again and that was 12 years ago. These songs bring back memories.......

A classic in my book. We bumped this on the southside of Chicago when this dropped. These two were like a west coast EPMD because they blended perfectly. U could tell them apart easily because Gangsta D had the eazy-e voice with the hard lyrics. While KK had a gruff voice and was a str8 clown. KK would say anything.Once again the whole crew is on this one also: Quik, Hi-C, and AMG. They had a tight click that just seemed to from Voltron how they worked together. My favorites on this album are: If u Want it, Be True 2 yourself, Let the Rhythm, and Just Ain't Me (KK solo). I still take hoodrats on "Triple MMM Shots".....Listen to the album to find the meaning. Hotep!!!
