Syma helicopters looks good but they don't last. I've purchased 4 now and after couple weeks they start missing pieces or the electronics stop working.

Here the history:

1. Syma S013 Mini UH-60- Only cost $20 and is still alive but no landing gear.
2. Syma S107 - I felt in love with the S013, so I bought a Red S107 with the Gyro thinking...

I have had this for 24 hours, crashed it into the roof, a tree, my dog, my girlfriend and countless pieces of furniture! This thing is Durable! Thick plastic pivot blades, a thick plastic nose shell and a Aluminum skeleton.

It takes about 30min to charge from a completely dead battery with a proprietary charger and flies for about 10 minutes outdoors and 15 minutes indoors. It can fly it 1 - 2 mph wind outdoors but because it doesn't pitch a lot (maybe 5 degrees in both directions) you are really just chasing it as it goes in the direction of the wind.

The Gyro is not a joke it really really works, yawing the unit by hand you can feel the individual blades slow to compensate and stabilize. Outdoors it really shows how well it helps keep the unit level. The control has a trim knob to keep the unit from spinning while hovering.

The controller itself feels really cheap and the decals placed on it are off center to a point where it was inhibiting the trim knob and required me to remove it.

So the only 2 real complaints about this RC is the lack of Forward and Reverse maneuverability, and the quality of the controller. Otherwise well worth $40, maybe my dog and Girlfriend will stop hiding soon :)

PS. For replacement Parts for this unit:

I Purchased The Syma S032 Thinking it would Fly Like My Syma S107. Well, at first I thought : "Hey This sucks!" It didn't fly like my S107. It Kept Trying to Go To The Right. No Matter what I did in trim it still would not lift off like the S 107. Until.... I took a long look at both Helicopters. On The Syma S 107 there are two ball link connectors and on the S 032 there is only ONE!! Well, I purchased a couple of extra parts and added the link...VIOLA!!!! It Flies as Perfect Now as The S-107. I suggest if you purchase this Helicopter, look it over when you get it and purchase the link if it is not there. The Manufacturer and Sellers, should take note and add that part for buyers. It's a cheap add on. (I suggest include it at no charge) And you will have as Happier Customer!!!

When i bouught this product for the first time, it did not work, but the Deron from BASAL enterprises was great. I sent an e-mail explaining the problem, he called me immediately and send me the return voucher to send the product back. The great customer service is that he did not wait for the damaged product to get back to him. He did ship a replacement for me on the same day i was sending the damaged one back to him. replacement came in withing three days right in time for my 8 year old's birthday. My son loves this one, they have been flying in indoors and outdoors. it works great, probably it might have went up to 100 feet in air. Ordered one more from Deron

I've had a number of micro RC heli's and also have a 250 size 6-channel heli. I think of them all this little Syma s032 is the most fun and easiest of them all. The gyroscope makes flying it nearly "idiot-proof" since it stabilizes itself as soon as you let go of the stick. So forward motion it automatically arrests etc. Makes it very easy to fly I fly it through obstacles etc in the house and have taken it outside as well. It is VERY sensitive to any wind. Even wind you can't see/feel it seems to be bothered by. One of the things I didn't like though was the range is nowhere near the 50m they claim. I took it out about 50-80 feet and it was doing fine when it suddenly lost the signal and dropped out of the sky. Another good display of its durability though as it was completely undamaged.

Overall the helicopter is very easy to fly and does a great job. Incredibly durable, I've never had a helicopter sustain anywhere near this much abuse without any breakage. Flight time is reasonably short, about 5 minutes or less, and it charges in about 30-45 minutes usually. Not bad though for quick occasional flights on a whim.

It would be nice if you could have more than one batter and swap them, but the battery connector doesn't match the wall charger and it takes some effort to change the battery out, so that is not very feasible with the overall design.

Great little durable heli that I definitely recommend! I'll be buying some more of them for christmas to gift to some family members!

As a beginner with RC Helicopters I have to say this S032 is the best 3 channel "BANG FOR YOUR BUCK".
"AGAIN INDOOR ONLY". I got a 9053 just because it was so big and easy to fly. ALL REMARKS APLY TO BOTH MODELS. By extra blades, a must. I fly it every week with a HELI Club we started. I have only chipped one blade sense I purchased it. Doing speed dives under and over things. Pushing my flying skills AND I pushed my baby into a metal pole. OPPS! I recommend a backup battery for double the pleasure in flight time. But then allow the motors to cooldown.

KEY POINTS:
o You can and will master the FLIGHT CONTROLS but each one is different DAH!!
o If you can't figure that out just give it up and stop crying like a bunch of "BABIES".
o OH MY HELI BROKE IN ON DAY; or THE BUILD QUALITY IN POOR (REALLY!) grow up. Start slow and fly in an open wind free environment first. Then you will see all the pieces fall in place LIKE TRIM, SWAY AND PITCH. Worked it out all in one flight because I took my time.

My S032 and Double Horse 9053 are great. Never crashed unless I did something daring.

TIPs:
o To add weight help on both to fly outside. Double sided sticky tape and pennies, but your helicopter, your money, your RISK.
o Find your center of balance line and attach pennies as needed. So easy for FORWARD and READ PITCH.

Again the best BEGINNER MODELS IN MY OPINION ARE THE SYMA S032 MEDUIM SIZE 15 INCHES LENGTH AND THE DOUBLE HORSE 9053 26 INCHES LENGTH . BUY BETTER QUALITY LI-POLY BATTERIES, WORTH THE MONEY,

Syma helicopters looks good but they don't last. I've purchased 4 now and after couple weeks they start missing pieces or the electronics stop working.

Here the history:

1. Syma S013 Mini UH-60- Only cost $20 and is still alive but no landing gear.
2. Syma S107 - I felt in love with the S013, so I bought a Red S107 with the Gyro thinking that a more sophisticated model will increase the flying experience. The power switch broke after 2 weeks. (This was a replacement from a faulty one out of the box)
3. Syma S032 - Ordered this one along with the Red S107, but after the first week used to take forever for the gyro to activate, now the control light keeps blinking and no connection to the receiver.
4. Syma S107 - Bought a yellow S107 because I could not wait for the parts to arrive from China to fix the old one. After 2 weeks, lithium batteries are not charging. Glad that I have the old one as a spare.

My nephew bought a S107 from Amazon recently that also wasn't working out of the box.

I'll try another brand hoping for a better quality .

I bought this RC helicopter a few weeks ago, and so far I think it is a great helicopter for begginers. I first bought the S107. That one is a very nice helicopter, it is very easy and nice to handle. However it is tiny and there is no way you can use it outside. The S032 is almost twice as expensive (although it is still pretty cheap), but I thought it would be nice to have an helicopter that could be used outside. The S032 is as easy to use as the S107, but it is bigger and faster. It is pretty much a 2:1 scale of the S107. The advantage of the S032 is that you can use it both inside (if you have a reasonably sized living-room) and outside (if there is no wind whatsoever). I definitly recommend this helicopter for adults who are self-learning to fly RC helicopters. The S032 is probably good for kids to play at home, but if you are a begginer and want to start learning about RC helicopters without spending too much money, this is probably a good start. I think when I master this helicopter, I'll go to a 6 channel helicopter.

First, let me say that I have owned enough rc helicopters and read enough reviews to deduce that the manufacturing quality control is such that one unit of a given make and model may be completely different than the next one produced. That said, the quality and characteristics of *MY* S032 are very acceptable and rate a high score.

Some have criticized the S032 for being too small to fly outside and too big to fly inside. I disagree on both counts. The S032 is radio controlled, which means it can be flown outside on a sunny *windless* day. BTW, none of the coaxial helo's I own can handle much more than a tiny breeze, including my CX2. However, my trusty S107G (and similar helos) are infra-red control and trying to fly outside on a sunny day is impossible. So, at least on a windless day, the S032 *CAN* be flown outside.

As for being "too big" to be flown inside, I think the limitation is more due to the S032's speed rather than size. The 032 is faster than the trusty, benchmark-setting S107G, so you really have to be on your game to avoid crashing into the easily scratched screen of your new, LCD TV (DAMHIK). I would estimate the forward speed of mine to be about 30% faster than any of my S107G's or my S111G. In fact, my S032 is at least as fast (indoors) as my Blade MCX2 on it's "novice" control setting (the Blade MCX2 is slightly faster on the "pro" setting and difficult to fly wide-open inside for the same reason as the S032). Of course, all the helo's I have, including the S032, can be flown at a reduced speed, so I stand by my opinion that it can be comfortably flown inside (just not at full speed, unless you have really big flight areas in your home).

I don't crash my helo's very often, anymore. My wonderful S111G was my first helo, and believe me it is a miracle that it still flies just great, because I crashed it a LOT while learning the basics. Still, I have hit a few walls (and especially ceilings) and collided with a table or two with the S032, and there has been no damage except for pushing one of the skids askew (it did not break, and was easily straightened). The 032 is more powerful than the 107G (due to weight) so the blades put out more turbulence making landing on small areas a bit challenging (which I consider fun). The rotors are hinged, reducing danger to kids and pets.

Again using the S107G as a reference, my S032 has a much longer flight time, but takes much longer to charge (using the AC charger provided). I consider this an acceptable trade-off. My 032 tends to slowly drift forward at a hover, which is not a big deal, but my other helo's either don't do that or have a trim control to prevent it. Also, a minor gripe is that it is very difficult to find the exact, tiny, precise setting of the throttle to maintain a lasting "hands-off" hover. I seem to struggle to avoid having the 032 very slowwwwwly climb or descend. I suppose I am spoiled by my Blade MCX2 which hovers motionless while I have both hands free.

My bottom line is I am very happy to add my S032 to my collection of rc helicopters. I recommend it, hoping yours has the same characteristics as mine - if it does, you won't be disappointed.

I wanted an outdoor helicopter because I already have the indoor Syma S107 which works great. So I bought the S032. Unfortunately,
the S032 could not handle outdoor flying because it was easily blown out of course by the smallest breezes. Also it was a bit too big to be an indoor helicopter. So to sum it up; it is not the ideal indoor helicopter and it doesn't fly very well outdoors. To make things worse, after several flights, the helicopter would not fly more than a few inches above the ground. It seems that the main blades became stuck and would not turn. I had to return it.

For the price, you can't go wrong.BUT, I am so disappointed that the manufacturer cut it short. It could've been a nice heli.
Syma was among the firsts to introduce a very stable indoor coaxial helicopter using a 3 in 1 board with gyro.
I also own s107 which serves it's purpose very well.(and many other brands ).
Where Syma fails consistently is THE RADIO RANGE and the amps management.
This helicopter is fun but don't expect more from a toy.
As I was saying, the effective radio range is less than 10-15 meters (30-50 feet).Stability is great indoor but don't expect much outdoor..even the slightest breeze will take it away.
The transmitter has only a trim for yaw no other trims are available. There is a silly button for 2 speeds. The structure looks durable and I honestly think it is..too bad that the motors will probably fail fairly soon.
When I mentioned amp management I was referring to the following phenomenon: When the motors get hot, they draw more amps and that's when the board stops working and the radio contact is lost and the heli drops like a rock.
The true flying time is around 8 minutes with stock battery: (3.7V 500mA).It takes about one hour for a full charge.
I have managed to fly this thing for more than 15 minutes by adding another 800mA 3.7 V cell in parallel with the stock cell.
However, I would NOT recommend this mod as the board can't handle the amps.(over time it will also shorten the motors life, which by the way are rated 1.5 V therefore don't expect a lot of flights with S032).
I also attached a key chain camera but the total weight is too much for the S032, however I could fly for 3-4 minutes with all this weight added (the battery and the camera). You can attach a key chain camera and with the stock battery, you'll have around 5-6 minutes.(if lucky). My camera weighs 17 grams.Just make sure you balance the heli and don't fly it too high as you will probably loose radio control and crash.
If you want to make a kid happy, you can buy this heli. 3 stars only for the fact that Syma didn't improve their products after the success of s107 and they applied the same thing to bigger helis, but unfortunately the design fails.Seller was great.I got it pretty fast.
