Perfect AR Scope,
This review is from: 3-9X42 Compact-Red and Green Illuminated Mil-Dot/Green Lens/Quick Release (Sports)
I bought this scope to mount on a flat top AR-15 with 20" barrel. It is absolutely perfect. It is very difficult to find a good scope for ARs. Most 3x9 scopes are too long to mount and still maintain a good shooting position with enough eye relief. Without a modified stock, a scope of less than 8" is almost a necessity. Most of the smaller tactical scopes such as the ACOG are very expensive (600$-1200$). This scope gives you comparable performance to an ACOG at 1/10 the price. I am in the army and use the ACOG regularly. The biggest advantage I can see of the ACOG over this scope is durability, (but how many of us honestly need a scope that is waterproof up to 100 meters and can withstand the shock of a two story fall?). This scope also gives you the added versatility of 3x9 power, when most of the more expensive tactical scopes are fixed 4x. The bullet drop compensator works great. The settings go from 100-500 meters. I was able too score hits on a life size silhouette at 500m. The performance at that range will vary depending on the load. So far I have gotten the best results with 55gr rem hp. The built in rail mount is also a great feature and secures the scope perfectly. The scope is well built and just plain looks cool.
To sum up: If you are looking for an AR scope, this one is hard to beat. It is the right size, it performs well, it looks great, and it is affordable. In some categories it may not measure up to the more expensive tactical scopes (i.e. ACOG), but at 1/10 the price, it comes close enough.

ordered this scope for an AR rifle i was going to use for target shooting. was skeptical about these "budget" optics. you can read all over the web about people bashing budget optics and sticking to the "big" names. i have alot of "big" name scopes...they have plenty of problems too. for the cost i cant say a bad thing about this scope. the quick release mount is straight forward. gotta tighten the bracket screw before pulling on the lever. bit of guess work about too tight or too loose OR breaking it :). i took my time with the mounting and made sure it was secure and well placed. after bore-sigthing it i went to zero it with some real ammo. the expensive optics out there save u no time in zeroing. it took my about 4 rounds at 100 yards to get it. the windage and bullet drop compensator work perfectly. each "click" is a consistent one, exactly the movement u want. the sight is clear and the zoom stays clear all the way up to max magnification. its compact if not the lightest scope, but absolutely perfect for a .223 rifle. ive taken the scope and rifle out to 500 yards and had nice groups everytime. it has not lost zero in about 250 rounds fired. ive contacted ncstar email support for a few questions regarding accessories and the quick release lever. they have responded with detailed information and been a wonderful help. i have leupolds and eotechs where their support....well i was less impressed with, for the vast amount of my money they now have... anyway, if u have a target rifle and want to keep some coins to rub together, i recommend this rifle scope 100%.

I wondered when I read about the NcStar line of tactical Series scopes if they could be any good...Especially since they are 1/4 the starting price of any "Big Name" tactical scope.
The unit assembled perfectly to my rifle and the sighting ( using a Laser Bore sight ) was easy and effective. The unit is very accurate out to it's design parameters. I have not tried to use it for more than a few hundred yards as I really don't feel a tactital scope is the right match for basic Ruger Mini 14 at over 200 yards.... I am very pleased at the performance of this scope and have just ordered another for my Beretta CX Storm....

I bought this for an AR. It was an excellent choice, Very clear optics. EAsy to mount and sight in. The length is perfect for the rifle. The different color optics work great in different lighting. Price was very low especially considering the value

I purchased this to mount it to a new AR-15. A couple of things you should know. You will need a flat top riser like the NcStar Flat Top Riser For .233. Why you ask, because the quick release handle gets too close to the charging handle. The reason I only say this is OK is because I had to send the one I purchase back to NcStar because of a canted reticle. The good thing is they have a limited lifetime warranty and where very easy to work with.
Update: I received my replacement fairly quickly (less than 2 weeks). Problem is that this does the same thing just not as bad. I tried all of the fixes sent to me by NCstar support and tried it on two different AR's with the same result. I thought it might be a problem with me, but I have tried every technique I can think of and the ones from support and still get the same thing. After trying two different scopes with the same problem I would not suggest this scope. Very disappointed because it could have been a good scope.

I purchased this scope for an AR10. The drop compensation on the turret is made for a .223, but is still very accurate for the .308 bullet. The .308 hits a little high since it does not drop as fast as the 223. After zeroing the scope at 100 yards I was able to turn the turret to the 500 yard mark to hit a pie plate target multiple times at 500 yards. The lighted cross hairs show up well even in low light. The scope is very simular to the extremely high priced ACOGs.

I bought this for my son's Ar-15. I made all the required adjustments to ensure the scope would mount properly on the rail and the reticle is canted 3.7 degrees counter-clockwise.
I know this to be a fact since I was able to place the scope on a special laser alignment table and found the entire base (the part cast/machined as a single piece with the scope tube) was actually produced at an angle off the tube. The only way to correct this problem is to machine the base to correct the manufacturing error. All the steps involved with correction sent via e-mail from NCStar are basically useless. They need to correct their manufacturing process if they want to get it straight, not try to blame the customers. I know I did not spend big bucks for this scope but at least they could make the thing without pre-manufactured defects. I would be willing to pay more than twice the price for a better scope but it seems the price points jump from around $200 to about $500, and I just do not want to swing that amount for this weapon. Buyer beware!

Fits AR well with good clearance for BUIS. Reasonably light, better than average build quality. Good size and appearance. Optics not perfect but very good - but if you want perfect, cough up another $900. for a 'big name' scope. For my use, recreational shooting 100-200 yards (I'm no Marine sniper) it's a very nice, accurate, and affordable option with usable eye relief and good light collection from the 42mm objective.

Might need a riser if using a BUIS,
This review is from: 3-9X42 Compact-Red and Green Illuminated Mil-Dot/Green Lens/Quick Release (Sports)
The scope is mounted on my M4. It is a nice looking scope and seem to be well built. The quick release mechanism works great. The dots on the mil dot reticle seem a tad bit closer to each than my other scopes. I need to take it to the range and test its range finding accuracy. One drawback that I found is the need for a riser in order for the scope to clear my YHM flip rear BUIS on the down position (YHM-9680). I installed a YHM 0.5X4.0" rail riser as a solution. I could have mounted the scope further forward but I won't get optimum eye relief without my nose rubbing on the charge handle. Except for the additional expense of a riser, this is a great scope for the price and highly recommend it.

Got this scope and the box and other packaging looked good. Examining the scope was another story. The large female threads at the front of the scope that hold the optics retaining ring were galled and damaged. Looking through the scope, the cross hairs were not square to the body. The cross hairs were rotated a few degrees off of vertical with no way to adjust them. This made the unit unusable and I returned it the next day. Looked to me as if it was returned then resold to me. Total P.O.S.
