4.0 out of 5 stars This CD is live
After reading a review that gave this CD 1 star, I wanted to listen myself.
First, this is record company crap. The songs on this CD were taken off the DVD "3 Bats Live". I don't think Meat Loaf ever intended for this to be a CD. That being said, This CD is Live live live and I dare anyone to listen to anyones real Live tapes and not hear a flat note from time to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice try but no
This CD is taken from the DVD material. If you want to take the DVD's audio on the road, this your CD. But as for performances that stand on their own, nah... The sad truth is the planets aligned long enough to give us some amazing performances that hold up well over time. And that both a blessing and a curse. That we have the performances at all is the blessing...

After reading a review that gave this CD 1 star, I wanted to listen myself.
First, this is record company crap. The songs on this CD were taken off the DVD "3 Bats Live". I don't think Meat Loaf ever intended for this to be a CD. That being said, This CD is Live live live and I dare anyone to listen to anyones real Live tapes and not hear a flat note from time to time. There is a big difference between off key and flat note. There are some great moments on this CD like the beginning of "Blind as a bat" , which sounds almost like the record. To answer the Question can Meat still sing listen to the vocal that starts "Anything For Love" and ends "Anything for Love" It is very Powerful. Granted he misses on the start of " It's all coming Back to me now" not making excuses for him but that is well over 2 hours into a show singing songs that are not your normal 3 chord songs. I believe he left this whole CD/DVD live for a reason. All in all this CD is is not 5 stars but it is 4 stars and for 60 years old this guy rocks. He gives everything live. PS. Meats fans there are tracks that have never been on a live CD before.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice try but no, January 5, 2011

This CD is taken from the DVD material. If you want to take the DVD's audio on the road, this your CD. But as for performances that stand on their own, nah... The sad truth is the planets aligned long enough to give us some amazing performances that hold up well over time. And that both a blessing and a curse. That we have the performances at all is the blessing. But trying to match them in later performances is the curse. The Paradise on this CD, for example, is musically sound but the "stop right now!!!" entry is late and lacks the urgency of the original performance. The "let me sleep on it" drags on and on. It just doesn't have the snap and tension the song demands. And so it goes for much of the CD. The one real surprise is Black Betty, which really rocks. For Meatloaf completeists, you'll buy the CD, but for people looking for new magic, it's just not here.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but not great., May 6, 2010

This is a good live album from Meat Loaf mainly for the track listing for those wanting to hear some BOH III stuff live. Other then that Meat's vocals are not overly impressive here. Hit and miss.

A must have for the true Meat Loaf fan! This album is the only place I have found the song Black Betty as performed by Meat Loaf.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment, April 28, 2008

I've always been a huge Meat Loaf fan. His first 3 Bat Out of Hell CDs were awesome. Unfortunately, as he's either gotten older, or thinner, his voice is not near what it used to be. It's obvious from the very first track. He continually sings off-key and it's really obvious in Dashboard Lights. Do yourself a favor, listen to Meat Loaf as he used to be, because much to my dismay, his voice just doesn't have it anymore. This is a very disappointing CD.
