A true, deep-fried, southern rock masterpeice from Bo Bice,
This review is from: 3 (Audio CD)
With the release of his third album (appropriately titled "3"), Bo Bice proves that the third time really is the charm. This album delivers on every promise you saw in Bo on American Idol. It's the natural destination for the journey that began with "Whipping Post" and "Vehicle" on Idol, and later with "Cinnamon and Novocain", "Sinner in a Sin" and "Whiskey, Women, and Time".
This record, from start to finish, is Bo in all of his country influenced, Southern-fried glory (full thoughts on each song are below). It's real, deep south rock-and-roll, with no apologies and no pretense. More importantly - it's just a damn good album. Like a lazy Sunday evening in the swing on the front porch, with a glass of sweet tea - this album is comfortable and fulfilling. I'm looking forward to spending some more quality time with it over the next few months.

Bo Is Back,
By
This review is from: 3 (Audio CD)
Bo was one of my favorite contestants on American Idol Season 4. Loved his southern rock/countryvibe on the show and his ability to perform. Then the idol machine got ahold of him and his first CD (although it sold 700,000) copies was generic pop...it was good, but it wasn't BO. Then his second release See The Light was marketed very poorly, but Bo was back to making the kind of music he excels at...a combination of southern rock, country, and blues. This third CD 3 is back totally to the Bo I love. Love his gravely voice that reminds me of Bob Segar at his best. This CD is full of tender ballads with great hooks and out and out southern rock/blues. Welcome Back Bo!!!

The Bo I love!,

I loved Bo's second album "See the Light" and really didn't expect to love the new one more. Country isn't my first choice for music. However, just as Bo taught me to love Southern Rock, he has now hooked me on at least some country music. It takes a true artist to make an old coot like me like a new genre, much less two. This album is excellent and one you can just turn on and enjoy from beginning to end. My personal favorites are "You Take Yourself With You", "Wild Roses", and "Lonely, Broke, and Wasted". I love the lyrics as well as the way they showcase Bo's voice, a voice you recognize immediately, never mistaking it for anyone else.
I recommend "3" to anyone who loves country and/or loves Bo.

Bo Bice is Back!,
This review is from: 3 (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful, eclectic mix of all the things Bo Bice does best. It's bluesy, Southern rock, country, and everything in between. The ballads are smooth without being sleepy, and "Different Shades of Blue" might be one of his best tunes EVER. The country-feeling tunes like "Good Hearted Woman" demonstrate sincerity and embrace the traditional slide guitars and fiddles. Bo doesn't forget how to rock, however, and does so in fine fashion with "Get On And Ride" and "Who Knows What." There even appears to be a ready-made American Idol exit song in the beautiful "Coming Back Home". "You Take Yourself With You" speaks to all of us who have tried to change directions in life, and the song captures the clarity of Bo's voice and honesty of his message.
There's a little bit of something for everyone on this CD, and I predict that it will be the vehicle for the "comeback" that Bo's fans feel is long overdue. Buy it and prepare to enjoy the ride!

The Best Bo Bice CD So Far !!!!! All Songs Were Written or Co-Written By Bo Himself = 10 Great Rockin', Bluesy Songs!!!!!!,
By Gary Covington "Southern Rocker" (Louisiana, U.S.A.) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: 3 (Audio CD)
This is simply Bo's best album CD thus far. All the songs were written by Bo himself, or co-written by Bo with others, with Bo being the chief writer. Bo was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and raised in the South, including Atlanta. He placed second to Carrie Underwood in the 4th season, of the American Idol TV Show. As "runner-up", he won a record contract, but they wouldn't let him record the songs that he had written, and the songs he wanted to record. Now, finally we get the real, and "seasoned", Bo Bice and his "Southern Roots" certainly come out in these 10 great songs. Most of these songs are good solid "hard rocking" songs, with a couple of "bluey" ones.
Bo has toured and/or performed with 3 Doors Down (From Mississippi), Hank Williams Jr., and Lynyrd Skynyrd. They all performed a big sold out show at the Taj Mahal, in Atlantic City back in 2006. I still have a copy of the concert poster. According to the pamplet, in the CD package, Bo states, "This music is dedicated to my brother Ean Evans". Ean Evans (from Mississippi), was the bass guitar player, for Lynyrd Skynyrd for several years, after their original bassist Leon Wilkeson died. Ean Evans died of cancer himself on May 6, 2009. This dedication shows where Bo's heart is. He is real & sincere. Bo has quite a large band of musicians backing him up on this album CD. This album CD prooves that Bo has grown as an artist. Bo was the "Executive Producer" of this album CD. According to the sticker on the plastic cover, it states that the featured songs, are "Good Hearted Woman" (This is Bo's song, not Waylon Jenning's song.), and "Different Shades of Blue". All the songs are very good, and they fit very well together in this album CD. The Amazon Product Description gives the song set, so there is no need to repeat that again. So, I'll give you some information that is not in the product description. The musicians: Vocals, Acoustic & Electric Guitar - Bo Bice Acoustic & Electric Guitars, Madolin, & Background Vocals - Bart Walker Keyboards - Jeff Roach & A.J.Croce Bass Guitar - Robert Karnes & Matt Ross Drums - Steve Gorman Fiddle & Pedal Steel Guitar - James Pennebaker Fiddle - Dan Kelly Trumpet - Steve Herman Saxaphones - Randy Leago Baritone Guitar - D. Scott Miller Percussion - Derek Wolford & Bo Bice Background Vocals - Jonelle Mosser, Patrick Mitchell, & Melinda Doolittle Well, this is the "real", and "seasoned", Bo Bice, and I like this album CD, and I gladly recommend it. Thanks!!!!

I have all three Bo albums and they keep getting better. The "Real Thing" was not the real thing. It was AI commercialization. The second album was much better and this is true AI Bo at his best. You will no be disappointed in getting this.

I can't say enough about this album... ALBUM being the word to note, because EVERY song is strong. It's a fantastic listen (and I've been listening to it over and over already).
Songwriter, producer, and that voice! I became a fast fan when accidentally watching American Idol years ago. With so much "fluff" in the music biz these days, he's a refreshing breath of fresh air, backed up with a bucket load of talent. Not just southern rock, but 3 has a wonderful blend of other subtle musical styles. Bo really knocks the ball out of the park! Buy it -- you won't be disappointed.

I have heard some of the songs on this cd in full, others only partly, so I am anxiously waiting to get my copy and hear the whole thing. I love "You Take Yourself With You" and "Coming Home". I love hearing Bo sing ballads. I'm hoping this will get Bo the recognition he deserves. I just wish he would record the full version of "Inside Your Heaven". That was the best performance ever on American Idol. I still get a shiver when I hear it.
