The art of 3-D decoupage involves the building of pictures using layers, creating a feeling of depth, space, shape and colour. This text presents ten projects which aim to explore the full potential of this technique. These include cards and gift-holders, 3-D pictures created from landscape, flower and portrait photographs and a miniature snow scene. Also included are instructions for using rubber stamped images to make 3-D birthday cards decorated with felt-tipped pens. Templates are included for many of the projects.

The very essence of traditional decoupage is that the flat image is covered by so many layers of sealer that it virtually becomes one with the background. A twist on this approach builds the image in layers, yielding more of a paper relief sculpture than a decoupage piece, but the methods are similar: arranging and gluing images cut from paper onto various items. 3-D Decoupage Made Easy offers adequate, if uninspiring, instruction; the 10 projects, ranging from greeting cards to framed pictures to a child's desk set, are rather lackluster and often resemble collage more than decoupage, but there's enough coverage of basics to provide ideas for more imaginative treatments than those presented here. --Amy Handy

Easy form of use for first timers,

The book is okay it's good to use when you are first timer who doesn't know what their doing. I would reccomend it being used in schools for art class or in a community center for arts and crafts.

This would be a great beginner book for children and young people. But the projects are too homemade craft looking for most adults, in my opinion. There are other books on this subject offered by Amazon for adults, but this is the only book on 3D Decoupage offered for young people.
