4.0 out of 5 stars These glasses really work
Tired of the color distortion from viewing 3D in anaglyph (tinted red/cyan) glasses, yet not ready to spend the money for shutter glasses or other high tech stuff? These prism glasses are the best thing on the market at present, with some reservations.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointed.
These are parallel prism glasses. They work by obstructing your left eye to see the image on the right and vice versa.
Way better than blue-red or crossed eyes method which is tiresome, however the focal distance is pretty far from the screen, so the 3D image is relatively small. For example on a 19 inch monitor, your viewing distance would be from around 2 feet...

When paired with good 3D images, the result is quite nice.
Note: I did not receive the DVD advertised as bonus...not the end of the world, but I find this misleading.

First off they do what they say on the tin. They are prism glasses for viewing stereograms, and they do that job.

My problems come from the cost at $17 they are too expensive for what you get. They don't look very good, and the hinges are a bit flimsy. It wouldn't be that hard to break them.

Next comes the fact that they are really only suitable for small heads. And the bump for the nose caused actual pain when I wore them. In the end I had to take them off their ear pieces, attach them to a flip up hinge, and use a dremel to make a bigger nose bridge. All of which compounded my feeling that these were way over priced.

And needless to say they cannot be worn over glasses. Think very carefully before you buy this item.

These glasses are designed with adjustable prisms so you can center the 3D image, but the glasses themselves do not adjust to fit. They probably fit a child or maybe if you have a small head. The 3D image actually appears once you get the prisms positioned properly, but the image size gets reduced so the 3D effect is not very pronounced. I'm going to try to modify the glasses so they will work over prescription glasses and clip on some how.

Tired of the color distortion from viewing 3D in anaglyph (tinted red/cyan) glasses, yet not ready to spend the money for shutter glasses or other high tech stuff? These prism glasses are the best thing on the market at present, with some reservations.

Basically there are only three ways to view image pairs on a monitor without interlaced higher technology: 1) dual stereopticon lenses, as found in antique viewers; 2) devices which use front-surface mirrors and 3) optical prisms. A fourth system, polarized glasses, only works on projected images like in your theater.

1) Stereo lenses have a very short focal length. You have to be about 15" from the screen at best! This is fine for the antique stereoscopes (which looked at a pair of prints) or for the ViewMaster and Realist viewers for transparencies, but larger images on a monitor make this system nearly impossible. 2) Viewers using mirrors are fine, but they can't be built small enough for eyewear, and the mirrors are extremely fragile, subject to the slightest scratching or smudges. That leaves 3) optical prisms.

I have purchased and tested the glasses advertised here, and I would recommend them to anyone serious about 3D. In fact, at $20 they are inexpensive enough to send to friends so you can share family pictures and video over the internet. Nevertheless, the frames fit a child's head and can be uncomfortable, and I heartily agree with the other negative comments on this. The manufacturer should re-design them! I finally built my own goggles using some prisms purchased from an optical supply firm, and mine fit nicely over my regular glasses. However, each prism cost me close to $20! so this is a good deal. I have searched for alternatives everywhere and this is the only brand I've found (there is another prism system called KMQ which views image pairs over/under, but that's another topic).

I recently purchased these prism glasses for use with digital sources... computer monitors and possibly an iPad for both stills and video. I've been hoping for a decent stereo viewing device for the iPad 3 (well, nano display 'new' iPad) before I make that pricey purchase. On arrival, I immediately tried out the glasses on my monitor with various side-by-side (parallel) stereo images, and the glasses DO work as advertised.

However, there are several irritating features. For one, the ergonomics aren't great, especially if you're an eyeglass wearer. The plastic sides barely reach my ears and the glasses slip around a bit. But more importantly, I can sadly verify the complaint that I've read from several users (elsewhere) that the glasses have severe chromatic aberration.... on high contrast images you see strong color fringing on the sides of dark objects against light backgrounds. It's so strong that I would not like to share my images with others using these glasses. But they are still useful to me for checking my own images, etc., so I have no plans to return them. The price was right and I knew going in that the lenses are plastic. I did get what I paid for.

I sent them back because I found the amount of chromatic aberration was a bit more than I was willing to accept. YMMV of course.

This is so crappy....doesn't work at all...don't waste your money! This product did nothing for me. The glasses are too small and keep falling...the glasses are very frail and would break easily.
