Product Description

By today's standards, wealth is generally measured by one's financial status. In 3 Dimensional Wealth, veteran financial advisors Monroe M. Diefendorf, Jr and Robert Sterling Madden offer a radically sane perspective on wealth that reveals how tangible assets such as money, property, and possessions are only one aspect of wealth. The 3 Dimensional Wealth premise is simple: replace preconceived notions of wealth with a more encompassing perspective that includes personal (who you are), financial (what you have), and social (how you make a difference) dimensions for a total measurement of your life. The authors reveal how to transition your life from a traditional one-dimensional approach concerning wealth to a three dimensional life that has greater significance. This self-discovery journey will challenge you to strive for a more meaningful existence.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3 Dimensional Wealth by Madden et al., September 27, 2005
This review is from: 3 Dimensional Wealth (Hardcover)
The authors ask that we look at ourselves dispassionately.
Ask the questions- "Who am I?" ; "What do I have?";
"How can I make a difference?" ; "What must I do to create value?"
The book asks that we have an outward focus emphasizing future
gratification and stewardship rather than mere possession.

According to the author, our life should consist of:
- time lived , mistakes made and lessons learned
- acquisition of intangible assets consisting of values, beliefs
and wisdom
- give , save and spend ( in that order)

This work has some valuable ideas; however, they are encapsuled
in universalist notions grounded in theory rather than
everyday practice. The answers to many questions posed are
quite personal. They will differ based upon each person's
experiences, mistakes and capacity to learn and move forward.
Each of us have varying values, belief systems and acquired
wisdom. In fact, acquired wisdom will differ substantially
on a case-by-case basis. Some people will never acquire wisdom.
Others will do so incrementally as time and events pass on into
the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Admittedly biased review....., August 14, 2005

This review is from: 3 Dimensional Wealth (Hardcover)
But I am still going to recommend this as reading for any and everyone. If the more recent generations of this world followed the principles set forth in this book, they would not just create a monetary wealth, but a wealth of happiness and fulfillment. It's not so much anecdotal, but does sample enough to make for easy analogies to everyday life. It's more of a practical advice plan for anyone looking to build what I have decided to call it "a fortune of existence" instead of merely a fortune. I reiterate, this book is for people who have accumulated wealth but are still looking for more... and it's for people who want to be wealthy and have only just begun. I look forward to a day when the wealthiest of this country and world are in fact 3 dimensionally wealthy. We all should. Thanks. Admittedly biased because I am the son of one of the authors.
