5.0 out of 5 stars What a Gem! May 6, 2012
Format:Paperback
This is without exeption the best and most helpful book I have read for beginners and established quilters alike. If, like me, quilting if fairly new to you (and you have bought every book under the sun) then this book is invaluable. From exciting colourful choices, and more importantly, to giving the novice the courage to go ahead, use the fabrics you love, and finish your quilt.

However, what makes 3-fabric quilts an exception is the way in which the use of colours and how to mix and balance all kinds of designs and "get it right", is laid out in wonderful illustrations and easy to understand explanations of why we sometimes get it wrong. This is a book for all quilters and I cannot praise it enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made my first ever quilt using this book! September 11, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was so helpful and easy to follow. I'm in my late 20s and new to quilting. From my personal experience I think this is a great beginners first quilt book if you actually want to make something and finish it in a viable timeline. I bought 3 other books and this one was the best for me as the projects are realistically accomplishable for newbies. My quilt looks great and I'm now more confident for it. I wanted to start basic so as to not be scared off by a daunting mammoth project that I would discard and never finish. The pretty pictures and easy to follow diagrams made following the step by step instructions a breeze. Even I managed to create something cute and finish it!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book November 26, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Lots of great samples and nice quilts that would be easy to make but look difficult and look like they use more than 3 fabrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3-Fabric Quilts December 14, 2012
Format:Paperback
Beginning and experienced quilters alike will love this book. It gives courage to beginning quilters by presenting many wonderful projects using only three fabrics, and making the quilts simple enough that not only are they able to finish the project, but also without compromising beauty and eye appeal. Experienced quilters will be inspired by the manipulations of simple blocks and color to make a project one they can accomplish quickly with astounding results, also. The beautiful color pictures and clear text make each project easy to understand, with mutliple lay-outs of the blocks illustrated. I found this book completely inspiring; I have finished one quilt and I am on to the next! Don't hesitate to buy this...you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love These Patterns! May 31, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have been quilting for 8 months, and this has been one of my favorite quilting books so far. If you are very experienced, the info at the beginning may be too basic. But I really appreciated the section on how to choose coordinating fabrics based on design print, color value and scale. This has been invaluable to me. I also love the concept of making a quilt using three fabrics. I can often find fabric on sale by the yard, and to only need 3 different fabrics to be able to make a quilt is wonderful and affordable! I love many of the patterns, and have already made started a small quilt based on the modern basket weave. It's turning out beautiful, and I'm sure I'll use that pattern again and again.
If I were to give one suggestion for improvement, it would be that the small quilt patterns be lap size or toddler size rather than 36"x36" or 40"x40". 36"x36" is just too small for usefulness to me. But I am adding additional blocks and making the pattern into size appropriate for a lap quilt so I can give it as a gift, and that isn't difficult to do at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Was Looking For! August 28, 2013
By Renny
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am a beginner quilter and this book is just what I needed. I am involved in the Prayer Square Ministry at our church and I needed simple squares that are not only easy to sew quickly, but have a sense of style as well. Limiting yourself to just three fabrics truly does help to not only save time, but makes better use of all the fabric.
