5.0 out of 5 stars A wild ride on the classical side, January 26, 2010

I had the opportunity to get their CD before it was released at a live performance and am still thoroughly moved every time I listen to them. Just introduced to their impromptu style and it gave me such a perspective on what can actually be done with standard classical instruments and the music people are used to hearing. I was blown away by the power behind the music, especially since a good majority was composed by the bassist. Absolutely ecstatic about this album. I can't wait to see them perform again and listen to whatever the future brings!

Another musical tour de force from these three fervent travelers. An extraordinarily well produced recording full of extraordinary music.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums I have ever heard, January 27, 2010
This review is from: 3 Fervent Travelers (Audio CD)
This is truly one of the best albums I have ever heard, in any genre. It is a rare confluence of all the magic ingredients: inspiration, quality, energy, emotion, commercial appeal, plus the guys have incredible charisma. They are just soooo good... comparisons to the Beatles may seem over the top, but this is truly the same once-in-a lifetime alignment of stars. There are lots of "crossover" acts out there, but none of this level. Listen to their cover of Hide and Seek, a true gem. Artists like TF3 remind us why music exists in the first place. I still have goosebumps. Superbly recorded, BTW. Kudos to the engineer.

I'd seen them in person, wasn't sure the CD would do them justice - but it does. These are incredibly talented young men who have a lot of fun creating wonderful music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo!, January 27, 2010
This review is from: 3 Fervent Travelers (Audio CD)
I've been listening to this disc non-stop since receiving an advance copy. I can't say enough about the entire package. The performances are top rate. The new compositions are original yet familiar at the same time, creating a very comfortable listening environment. There is joy infused in every note on this recording, not one track is dull or under performed. Having heard earlier releases from this group, you can hear how much they have progressed with this release. The finesse with which they play is captivating. My favorite track is probably one of the most introspective. "Sundays" transports me to a soundworld which I have imagined for myself for a long time, with its lazy, bluesy, sexy sound. I wish I could give this release more than 5 stars, it ranks among my favorite recordings of all time.

These Curtis- trained virtuosos let their hair down with imaginative popular arrangements of a variety of music, some classically derived. You get some sense of their live act from this recording. I was impelled to buy this after seeing them in concert and buying one of their CDs. Their technique is secure enough that when they jam and improvise on a tune they get through to the other end unscathed, even as they may leave you wondering how they did it. They are clearly having a good time, and so should you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The next level, March 10, 2010

My, how you guys have grown!
I own and continue to enjoy your two previous CD's; they reside in my car, where I do the bulk of my listening. However, "3 Fervent Travelers" makes me pull over so I can hear and fully appreciate the subtleties and nuances of several cuts: "Hide and Seek" and "Sundays" in particular. I have to watch my speedometer when "Ecuador" is on, likewise the ending of "Orange Blossom"! What I really love about this CD is the wide variety of tunes, from git down funk to heartrending ballad to dance to meandering conversation. And I like the mix of studio and live, makes the whole thing very accessible. The joie de vivre is still all there, likewise the staggering technique of all three (I'm a string player, I can tell!) but this CD takes your craft to a new level of excellence. Bravo! Congratulations!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wait a minute! three young guys,, February 9, 2010

playing violins, sounding classical, but then listen to the samples! I was surprised to dicover "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap, and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." These two songs initially got my interest, but the vast variety compelled me to order it. These three young men are masterful at their craft.

5.0 out of 5 stars live energy, January 28, 2010

this is a truly great cd. i've seen time for three live twice, and nick kendall solo twice. if you haven't seen them live, run, do not walk, to their website & check out their tour schedule. this was a wonderful idea, to record them live. the last time i saw nick in concert, i ended up sitting next to an elderly gentleman, who kept poking me in the ribs & exclaiming "isn't he wonderful?!" as i glanced up into his piercing blues eyes, i had to admit to paul newman, that yes, nick is wonderful!
