You could spend a whole lot more on this! But this is a great kit, its brighter than some of the less expensive models. It also can be broken down and put back into the handy carrying case that it comes with. It allows you to get the three basic light types and produce nice looking video or stills. I use it together with both a digital camera and a HD camcorder, and am very happy with it.

This kit, although not for the died in the wool professional, is an excellent starting point for serious amateurs to learn how to use studio lighting effectively without spending a fortune. I has the basic ingredients to experiment with and produce excellent results.

Amazon Verified Purchase
I just got this product today, and at first glance, it seems like it's going to be an excellent tool for learning studio lighting. Based on other reviews, I thought it might be cheap construction; it's actually not bad. One reviewer said that theirs did not come with instructions. Mine came with two different instruction booklets: one for the boom setup, and one for the regular light stand setups. Maybe his/hers was a bad shipment. The instructions provided with mine did the trick, and I had the kit setup in a matter of minutes.

Nice Basic Powerful Lighting Kit

Broken bulbs
Product is exactly what I expected, except that two out of the three bulbs were broken when I opened the package...no external damage to packaging was visible.
