The Perfect Blend of Old School and New School,
By
This review is from: Volume 3 (Audio CD)
The perfect blend of down-home "Sangin", top-notch production, scripture, and practical religion. These guys must have spent more than a few hours making sure that the songs minister to your heart as well as your ears because I am moved everytime I listen to the album. Even the opening interlude ...Prayer Will... is moving... I can't believe this album is not getting more airplay on christian and R&B stations. I am a diehard music fan and I would not recommend this CD if it wasn't awesome and inspiring. It's like the Canton Spirituals meets Kirk Fanklin. Their other albums are good as well, but they shine at mid-tempo and slow tunes which this album is full of. By the way ... If either of the members of the group should read this review... Please change labels. You need to be on a major gospel label with the money and vision to push this type of album. Peace

Amazing!,

I own every Men of Standard album and I must say that this one is my favorite. The message is very uplifting and the vocals are amazing. Their voices blend so well together and all vocalists share the spotlight throughout. I've waited a long time for this album, but this album was worth the wait. If you are a fan of gospel music, contemporary or traditional, you must buy this album!

Different vibe,

I just bought this album yesterday and I must tell you that I am a little disappointed. The reason being is because Men of Standard have such great voices and I felt that on most of their(not there-just kidding!) songs the music overpowered their vocals. Some of the drumbeats were way too high in the mix. With their last two albums, there was a fine balance between vocals and music with the vocals getting much of the attention. That only happens with one song: "Prayer Will Change Things"(sweet song by the way). Furthermore, I did not get that classic Bryan Pierce song that I have come to love on the previous albums-"Anointed Song" anybody. Overall, this is still a good CD. I just was not ready for the "total" urbanization of MOS. They could've made another album like the previous two and then went to this style. It's different, but I still like it. Come to think about....they did prepare for this with the last album. The last album was pretty urban. From beginning to end, this album is not as good as their last album. However, there are a few songs that beckon you to listen to them like the aforementioned song and "So Beautiful" to name a couple. "All of My Days" is circa Boyz II Men(Great song). Oh well, I'm finished.Be Blessed
