slick southern soul,
By Sam Mosley "The Junkyard Junky" (Toronto, Ontario) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 3-N-A-Bed (Audio CD)
If you dig smooth Southern soul in the style of Tyrone Davis then you will definitely dig `3-N-A Bed'. Chuck Strong lays down some slick vocals on a mix of slow and up-tempo tracks while Rich Cason lays down the tight rhythm's and grooves. Chuck shows his slower side notably on the title track and a great cover of William Bell's "I Forgot to be Your Lover", thought the up-tempo tracks are the strongest including "Southern Girl", a tribute to down home women, and a cover of Tyrone's "If You Had a Change in Mind".

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hat's off to Chuck Strong. I am a lover of Rhythmn & Blues. I've never heard of this artist until I decided to take a chance to hear what his music was all about.Ladies this Brother in layman's term "Got it going ON." From the moment that I first played my CD which arrived on time, I listened to it from 3:00 pm until 3:00 am, over and over again. Talk about the sultry sound of R&B, if you enjoy the vocal sound of the late Johnny Taylor and of course Sweet Willie Clayton you'll love not only the vocal sound but the beat as well. To my Brothers not to exclude you, buy this CD as the old chiche goes, "There is a message in the Music." |
