LCD Screen Protector,

This review is from: 3-Pack Clear Screen Protectors for Apple iPod Touch 4 (4th Generation)
-The supplied microfiber cloth used to clean the Ipod's LCD screen leaves behind its own deteriorating fabric which leads to bubbles when applied to the Ipod.
-Holes are not lined up perfectly. -Color distortion when viewed at an angle. Due to these 3 issues that I observed, I fully regret this purchase.

Good for the price, just live with the rainbow effect (Update: new ones no longer have rainbow effect),

Pros: Product is good and easy to use. I got this installed on my iPod Touch within 10 minutes with 2 very small air bubbles. Very reasonable price, unlike other heavily priced protectors. Also, I found the shipping to be very reasonable. Just that if I add more than one to my cart the shipping cost multiplies, which is a bit surprising, given the weight of the product.Cons: Like other reviewers have mentioned, this will give a rainbow effect. But the effect is noticeable only when the iPod Touch is in sleep mode (black screen) and is not visible while the device is in use. I just hope this will not leave any chemical effect on the screen. Suggestion to users: While applying the protector, I peeled off the stickers and then bent the protector a bit and first aligned the holes of the protector to the center of iPod Touch (the start button and the front camera). This way, if you miss a bit, you can easily take it off and re-align. Once you have the right alignment, you can continue to stick this towards the sideways. Use the cloth they have provided to wipe and avoid the air bubbles. Hope this helps. Suggestion to the seller: Please mention "do not bend" in the shipping package. Sometimes the mail man tries to squeeze the items into mailbox and the product may get damaged. Overall, recommended product and the 4 stars is only due to the rainbow effect. {Updates on 17-Dec} The one I had applied previously lasted for months and was still running great. rainbow effect went away over months time. I gifted the other two since I thought I wont need a replacement. I had a recent replacement of my iPod Touch due to battery issues and hence needed new set. Ordered another set of these and they arrived today. Like earlier, I could apply the first one within 5 mins and with 95% clean go. Few minor air bubbles outside the display but they were due to dust settling in soon after wiping the screen. No rainbow effect this time, only thing worth pointing is, the item this time is matt finish and you can feel some friction while unlocking via swipe. But I hope I should get used to it soon. Well recommended. These are worth the price and they will arrive promptly. Changing the rating to 5 star. Updated 19-Feb-12: Renamed the product name to "iPod Touch" from my earlier short name.

The shields are heavy-duty, but hard to apply. The finished product winds up w/ air bubbles under the screen. When the shield is used on an iPod w/ a rubber protector case, it gets lifted at the corners of the screen, creating more air bubbles. :-(

Let me start off by saying, I saw the low reviews after I purchased the item. I was worried it was going to suck, as these lower rated ones didnt start pouring in until after it was already coming in the mail.
After receiving the screen protectors, I tried them out. The cloth for cleaning the screen is very nice, which is a little plus considering the cheap price of the protectors. The bubbles are a genuine problem, just like all the reviews state. They are annoying and as far as I'm aware, there's no way to completely get rid of all of them. I managed to clear them off the screen, but there are small ones hovering all around the bottom and a few at the top. To be fair, some of the bubbles seem to fix themselves after a time, but this shouldn't be such a big problem in the first place. There really isn't much more to say about the screen protectors. I'm leaving mine on as I would hate to see even a nick on my iPod Touch, and the bubbles are worth the price if it does keep the screen safe- which it seems to do well. One final thing I would like to point out, I don't see the "oil spill" or "rainbow effect" everyone else does when my iPod is on or off. It looks normal. I would assume the other reviewers received bad screen protectors, which makes me even more hesitant to recommend this to anybody. Overall, the screen protector is a rather cheap item that seems to work fine- but you have to put in a fair amount of work to get the bubbles off the screen. I doubt there is a way to get them out entirely. And if you have to re-apply the protector, be aware you will probably attract dust or other pieces of junk floating in the air, none of which will be visible until you re-apply it to the screen. For two dollars, you get three protectors and three decent cleaning cloths included. If you REALLY want to find a low priced protector, this might be the "best" choice. Just keep in mind you'll have to work at clearing the bubbles to get a decent view on the screen, and that you may possibly end up with a bad set of screen protectors.

Dont buy this item. Theres a huge learning curve to apply it and therefore even 3 sheets are not enough. The quality is bad. You can see the rainbow colors at an angle.

Sure its cheap and you get 3, but they suck. Two of them wouldn't even apply so I had to throw them away, and the one that worked weird marks on the edges. Even for 1$, these.arent worth it.UPDATE: The product is still horrible, and I highly recommend you do not buy it. HOWEVER, I have changed the review to 3 stars simply because of the outstanding customer service. After I posted this review, I was refunded.

easily installed this CLEAR screen protectors as soon as they arrived and it was FAST, a day ahead of the estimated delivery date. could've had 3 cloth instead of 1 and no card to use to remove the bubbles but didn't really affect the product review. it was really clear can't even tell that it's there all the more on white iPod touch like what i have. BUT after a week use of my ipod and i already got lots of scratches already, too bad it can't withstand for a month, back to screen protector hunting

For the price, you can't go wrong, but there's a flaw with the cut of the screen protector. It didn't exactly fit the ipod 4g's whole screen. there's a small gap along the edge after I put it on. I don't have a problem with that because I put a snap on case afterward, so you I didn't need the screen protector to be the exact fit. Although, it might be a problem for those that use the back side case for the ipod, and not the snap on case.Overall, I give it a 4 because of the price and it was not hard to put on, at least for me.

Well, the first one I put on started falling off the corners within a day. I figured that was just the quality of the screen protectors in general, but after two weeks of fumbling with the faulty protector, I switched it for a different one in the pack, and it doesn't have any air bubbles or loose corners. However, the slightly bumpy quality of the protector makes the screen a little less clear.

Great Screen Protector,
This review is from: 3-Pack Clear Screen Protectors for Apple iPod Touch 4 (4th Generation)
These are great screen protectors. I put them on from bottom to top and smoothed it with a credit card as I applied it to get rid of bubbles as they appeared. Of course, there are a couple of bubbles, but not that many. I only had to use one and it's working well so far (Keep in mind, I've only had it for less than a week).
The price is great, and they work well and are very clear for my new iPod. I'd definitely recommend these. |
