I love this lamp. I use it in a fancy apartment. It is a snap to assemble. Light is gentle and diffuse, spreading over a wide area. Use it to light and define a conversation or dining area.

It is less suitable as a reading lamp since there is no reflector; and the shade does not direct the light downward. The base could be a little heavier, but it is easy to glue a ceramic tile under the base to make it tip-free. The three shelves below the lamp are ideal for display of small art objects or plants.

This classic design remains one of my favorite purchases. I have it in a computer nook at the end of a long corridor in a large, fancy apartment. With a nine-watt fluorescent, I leave it on 24x7. There is enough light to answer the phone, check my email, or grab a snack from the adjoining kitchen. To me it is an art object!

Big bang for $59.00 but I put in an energy saving bulb (the equivlent of the 120w recommended bulb)and at best it is mood lighting, meaning the shade just glows and gives off minimal light.

Floor lamps are usually very expensive. I love this lamp it adds so much character to a room and it was not expensive at all. I love this item.

I wasn't expecting IKEA quality, with this lamp. This product isn't inexpensive and I assumed it would be made in China. However, this was a real unpleasant surprise. During assembly, I found that 3 of the threaded inserts, that are required to assemble the shelf and posts, were basically stripped in the wood. Then when it came to attaching the light socket into the lamp base, the wing nut that is used to tighten the socket was either stripped or the amount of tread that was left protruding out of the base wasn't enough to properly attach the socket. I was able to modify all the parts to be able to use the lamp, and have a sound and functional assembly.

This is really a very poorly manufactured product. Even give the cost.

I'm really happy with mine.

I purchased this lamp to use along the side of our bed. When I assembled the lamp, I pre-fit all the parts. I then applied a small drop of adhesive to the joints before I tightened them. I think I used Gorilla Glue or Liquid Nails, I don't remember for sure. I also used thin strips of black tape to keep the cord against one of the legs.

We have had it for about a year now, and we are very pleased with it. We have moved since I purchased it, and have moved it to our living room as an accent lamp. With the red shade, it casts a very pleasing light. The light is not bright, but more of a warm glow. As a bedside lamp, it was nice to have a softer light when we got up in the night with our child.

In spite of the fact that it is tall and narrow; it is surprisingly stable. However, it is best suited to a corner or an area where it won't be jostled. We used to keep and alarm clock on it, and now we have pictures on the shelves. I do think that it is so solid in part due to gluing the joints, and I would recommend assembling it this way. Naturally, it isn't constructed of solid wood. I think there were a couple of very minor dings on the finish that I touched up with a black permanent marker.

I would recommend this lamp without hesitation.

I have two of these, one on either side of my bed. It provides soft light along with the perfect space needed for my phone dock/alarm clock and a bottle of water or box of tissue. It doesn't hurt that red is my favorite color and it just happens to match my decor perfectly.

This little lamp takes just 10-15 minutes to put together, and it looks great. I bought 2.

Note: the shelves are mostly for decoration with a slight functional touch. Don't expect heavy duty shelves. DO expect a nice looking lamp that provides just enough ambient light.

I really really do like this lamp. It looks great in my family room. It will not light up the room but gives an excellent mood light. Almost like a candle. I won't give it 5 stars because I think it is a little over priced for the quality. I had no trouble putting it together or any other issues. Its just that the wood that its made out of isn't very strong.

I love my new lamp and am contemplating buying a second. The only thing I would mention is make sure to measure out the dimensions to ensure you get what you want. The lamp is not quite as tall as I pictured in my head, but I did not break out the measuring tape or anything. The lamp is shipped in a small box, all pieces seperate. However, assembly was quick and painless. I think it took me 15-20 minutes...and I was watching TV while doing it. :)

It was a little upsetting seeing the lamp in every color except red in the store and on sale for $50 but I loved it and it was worth the extra money.
