3-way bulb is...okay,

I purchased two bulbs for lamps in my living room. The lamps are the tall, corner standing kind with the open, fluted tops and had some of the few remaining incadescent bulbs in my entire house until I found out that 3-way CFLs were being manufactured. So, after buying the sorta spendy bulbs (around $10 a piece), I found out that they work fine, with one problem...They're big. And they stick out above my lamps and are pretty dang bright, even on the lowest setting. Anybody who buys them should be aware that they need to have deep-set lamp housings with heavier glass. The manufacturer should indicate bulb depth. Otherwise, they're fine.....

EDIT: It appears that the product description has been updated to show the true wattage that this bulb uses after I originally reviewed it.I have a six foot tall floor lamp that also includes a flexible reading light. The main lamp uses three-way bulbs but I only wanted the main lamp to be bright enough so that I could see where I was going without tripping over anything or stubbing my toes. According to the item description this bulb is like a 30/70/100 watt incandescent bulb but only uses 8/14/23 watts. It sounded like the perfect bulb I was looking for. After receiving the bulb however, the bulb actually uses 13/20/26 watts and is much brighter than I wanted. The actual watts this bulb uses would make it closer to a 50/80/100 watt incandescent bulb (if one existed). It's also a bit larger than the 26 watt CFLs that I use in my overhead lights. One weird thing about it is that it cycles in the order of medium, low, high instead of going from lowest to highest. But even after saying this so far it's been a good bulb since I started using it almost five months ago. I've gotten used to the brighter light however I'm going to dock it one star for the inaccurate product description.

Insufficent quality, awkward sizing,

The unit I bought died in months. I did not bother replacing it. But if you do, the number is 800-543-FEIT, they'll ask for the number off the bulb, and the place of purchase. You're not saving energy if the bulbs don't last!
