5.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss this chance to change your mind!, July 11, 2008
This criminally underappreciated series just keeps getting better. Morgan Spurlock, the man who gave us "Super Size Me," takes that concept to a new level as he and other participants (we never do find out how Morgan discovers these people) spend a month living in the environment of someone completely outside their normal comfort zone. In Season 3, Morgan (an extremely ingratiating on-camera presence) himself spends a month as a coal miner in his West Virginia hometown, then another month on a Native American reservation in New Mexico. In the meantime, other people leaving home for 30 days include a conservative woman living with a gay couple raising three children; a former NFL player spending a month in a wheelchair; an anti-gun activist living with firearms enthusiasts, and a hunter living with animal rights activists. Not an exploitative "reality show," this is a series of documentaries about people walking a mile in someone else's shoes--and usually getting their eyes (and our own) opened at the same time. It's brilliant. Don't miss it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Morgan does it again!, July 13, 2008
This is such an amazing - thought provoking series and it just gets better each season! In this season, the bookends were definate stand-outs, first 30 days working as a coal-miner and finishing with 30 days on the Navajo Reservation. Both were incredibly informative. A nother stand out was 30 days in a wheelchair, which was just plain thought provoking.

The rest of the episodes were informative and thought provoking was well. However, I prefer episodes that stick to new experiences, as opposed to the episodes where people with opposite oppinions are forced to live together - those come dangerously close to feeling like an episode of "Wife Swap." (But, they would be the best episodes of Wife Swap ever produced)

As you can see, my small suggestion about the content did not affect my rating because overall, this is an excellent series. Besides, I have never lived 30 days as a film producers, so who am I to judge? :)

5.0 out of 5 stars It's eye-opening, June 19, 2010
This review is from: 30 Days Season 3 (DVD)
I'm a probability and statistics teacher and have been hooked on '30 Days' for years. It has a lot of statistics built into it, but it also teaches compassion toward others unlike oneself, so I occasionally show my students an episode from the first two seasons: Binge drinking, use of steroids, jail time, and outsourcing. They beg for more. I'm anxious to screen the episodes of Season 3 and add it to my library. One of the most important things we can pass on to the younger generation is tolerance toward others. Nothing does that better than '30 days'. Thank you, Morgan! Your series has entertained AND served a worthwhile purpose.
