30 by laurent garnier. the name 30 comes from laurent garniers age at the time he made this album. having been a dj at world famous clubs like the hacienda in the uk and his own club the Rex in paris for over 16 years and a producer of some of technos finest moments. i listened to 30 with with very high expectations. 30 is one of those rare pieces of art that can change your life and make you take stock of the world you live in. like someone might when they turn 30 or 21 any time when you pause to take in what matters and what is not important. this is emotional tekno music with some sounds that remind you of the rawness of early detroit tekno pioners like mad mike or juan atkins, without sounding retro. in fact the track crispy bacon sounds ten years ahead of its time. 30 is very intellectual but at the same time is sexy and emotional like garniers dj sets. if your some one who needs there hand held through the use of musical cliches and formulas and obvious samples dont buy 30 it will probally go over your head. however if youve ever heard a juicy pad or patch and feelings of excitement or warmth like a geothermal river flowing thru a 909 kick drum. buy this album and treat your self to the best dj in the world in his lab somewhere near paris.

he's the godfather of techno. All tracks are great and uplifting, especially "Flashback", "The Hoe" and of course the brilliant "Crispy Bacon". It's one of the best techno tracks I've ever heard, it's unbelieveable. I don't know how he does it, but I hope he keeps making music like this. Looking forward to see him on the Werchter festival this year. "Le Voyage De Simone" is one of my favs. It can make me cry. If you love this, then you should buy "Unreasonable Behauvior", "A Shot In The Dark" or "Club Traxx Ep".

A nice full-cd from the godfather of techno. A master piece, if you ask me. All great and uplifting tracks, most things will make you jump around your house, wishing you've bought this one before. But there is also room for diversity and feelings on this disc. It starts of with two great tracks ( I can't help but thinking of them as one track ) : "Deep Sea Diving" and "Sweet Mellow D". The first is a nice ambient thing, really calm. The next one is also calm, but starts up to get really energetic. By the end you'll be dancing, you can take my word on it. Very subtle. With the next track, we've already reached a high-light : "Crispy Bacon". Don't know how a person can do this to a song. It's wicked, unbelieveable and magic. "For Max" is a little bit more calm, but nice. "The Hoe" is pure fun to listen to. Really simple, but it seems to work. "Mid Summer Night" is again a little bit more calm, but also nice. "Kall It" is,again, a funny techno-song. Then there is the most irritating track of the cd : "La Minute Du Répondeur Le Plus Casse-Couilles". Always skip it. But it's followed by a beautiful track : "Theme From Larry's Dub". Techno with a flute, can you believe that. Believe ME, it works. And how ! "Feel The Fire" : nice. "Flashback" : you are one the high lights, together with the other single "Crispy Bacon". This one is also sure to make you jump. "I Funk Up" is groovy. "*?*" is really cute, and followed by the most beautifu track of "30", namely "Le Voyage De Simone". Mellow and trip hop-like, but it makes me calm. And it can make me feel warm. That female voice is really beautiful. Just buy it, okay ?

30 is a good record that has it's highs and it's lows like all records.the hoe is a great song but it just gets bogged in some places.i recommend it though cos it's a record that grows on you alot. i think garnier is a great artist that will really release a classic.

Hmmmmmmm.... I was disappointed with this one. I've seen Garnier live before and I was very impressed with his set. "30" is my first CD of Garnier's. To say the least, this CD was a bore to me. There is only one track that I liked and that was "Flashback". This CD is way overrated and so is the track "Crispy Bacon". Avoid this one and maybe try something else of Garnier's.
