Editorial Reviews

The Soundtrack to 30 Rock takes you through all four full seasons episodes. The series features a jaunty jazz score. Most of the score's melody is played by either clarinet, bass clarinet, or saxophone. The music is composed by Jeffery Richmond, who is also a producer for 30 Rock. Moreover, Richmond wrote the theme music, which was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award ® for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music. In 2009, 30 Rock the series was nominated for 22 Primetime Emmy Awards ®, the most ever in a single year for a comedy series.

Special Edition Version comes with a second CD which includes original music performed by Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Tracy Morgan, Jason Sudeikis, & Ghostface Killa.

Also included is a 50 page 12x12inch custom book with eye popping exclusive photos of the cast, set, props, scripts, producers liner notes, cast commentary, etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars 30 Rock Soundtrack Review November 21, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was very excited when I heard this was coming out. I love the score and character songs for the show. My only problem here is that some of the tracks have up to four pieces crammed in. I don't understand why each score could have gotten its own track. I guess some of them go together, but it would have been nice to have the theme song its own track, and the "Cleveland" song Tina and Jason did not bunched with other pieces of music. Also, the "Kidney Now!" song is missing. That is one of the most popular pieces of music ever on the show...I don't understand how they could have skipped that. Otherwise, this is a nice set. It also comes with a cool book (which I haven't read yet), but from flipping through briefly, it looks like the perfect thing for a hardcore fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Geezus, it's a 50 page book!! (FYI!) December 3, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Just letting you know, as well as a book, it includes the two CDs as advertised ;)
Extremely surprised at the large package, that's all. May have failed to perceive any notice of this being a hardback. With an intro from Jeff Richmond, great production shoots of the cast, handwritten sheet music and a script extract, this is one hell of a buy.

The music is great, and this long overdue and much anticipated release comes pleasantly received. From Richmond's familiar opening theme to Jenna's low fat "Muffin Top" and Tracey's spooky "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah", you'll relive the comical show from your MP3 player or car stereo when travelling.

The guys and gals on this show are the greatest, I love the work Fey, Richmond, Baldwin and Krakrowski do on 30 rock. The best - this package is a true collector's item.

5.0 out of 5 stars 30 Rock Soundtrack April 29, 2012
By Adam
Format:Audio CD
I love this soundtrack. Love the show so much that I'm glad that they came up with a soundtrack. Now that I got the soundtrack and it has been a year or so and some of the songs have been back from season one to season 4 I wish that they could make another soundtrack and put other songs as well. Have Tina Fey sing again I think she could she. Put in the song from Kidney Now that one was powerful made me want to give a kidney. I recommed this soundtrack one of the best composers on television.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must-buy for the fan of 30 Rock January 9, 2011

Absolutely delightful compilation of many memorable tracks from one of my all-time favourite comedies. Disc one consists largely of the background music used in 30 Rock (except for Michael Buble's delightful "Mr Templeton" and, "Cleveland" and "Midnight Train to Georgia") which can totally stand on their own in the foreground too. Lots of saxophone and clarinet bliss; or maybe that's just the biased ear of a woodwind player picking those sounds out. Disc 2 are the many hilarious songs used in the show, with the exception of Christopher Cross realising Liz Lemon's dreams and Jeff Richmond's enjoyable "What Do You Say to Cleveland". In addition to these great tracks, this collector's edition contains notes from the cast of 30 Rock (though it's disappointing Alec Baldwin didn't pen one or two words) including Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Kenneth McBrayer and Tracy Morgan. The pictures of memorable moments such as Scott Adsit's intent archer-pose is always welcome. Exerpts of handwritten music gives it a nice personal touch. Oh and who can leave out the script pages from my favourite song; "Midnight Train to Georgia" :) All these you can't get from the digital (and of course I'm referring to the legal options available here on amazon) copy of this OST

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product June 19, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
The only reason I don't give this five stars is because there seem to be a few songs missing from the second, novelty-song part of the soundtrack. For instance, not all of Jenna's songs are present. I would also like to hear longer versions of some of the songs that are presented only as clips on the show. However, that is nit-picking.
The first CD has a lot of small cocktail lounge type numbers, then turns into more of a soundtrack towards the end. It's good jazz music just by itself. It has the Mister Templeton song and the stuff about Cleveland as well.
The second CD has many of the funnier songs like Tennis Night and the entire Werewolf Bar Mitzvah. It also has the songs from the Christmas show in which Colleen spends the Holidays with Jack.
Both CDs are inside the front cover of a nice hardback book. The book doesn't add too much information, mostly photos and sound bites, but it makes a nice presentation.

Kidney Now
My guess is it would be way too expensive to clear all the artists who sang on it.
