Editorial Reviews

To mark their 30th Anniversary on March 22, 2012, GREAT WHITE celebrated the only logical way they could on stage. In a nod to their early days, GREAT WHITE returned to the infamous Sunset Strip, where a rich history of some of the best times in LA s musical history are fused into the walls of many a venue, including the Key Club where they performed. GREAT WHITE delivered a rich set spanning their entire repertoire to a packed house.
With a line-up featuring new singer Terry Ilous (XYZ), a natural frontman blessed with a bluesy-heritage rock tone to his voice, Ilous fits the band like a glove. GREAT WHITE s biting guitar riffs, contagious rhythm section and newfound energy honors their past and is creating their next chapter. 30th Anniversary Live is just one night but the music is timeless.

Great White is not Great White without Jack Russell. Jack's voice puts the groove to the tight music. I have been a GW fan forever....this 30 Years CD is shameful and sounds like Judas Priest covering Great White tunes. Although the music is as tight as ever and Mark's guitar wails, Terry does not have the pipes to give the music the bluesy punch that is Great White. Terry is a nice enough guys but his voice sounds like he is going to break into "Breakin the law" in every song. Da blue's aint' sung with a british draw. I hope Jack continues to get his head out of his ass and live clean.. Someday I hope to see Audie, Michael, Mark and Jack back together again...If you think this CD is Great White..You don't know Jack!

1.0 out of 5 stars no buy.. March 12, 2013

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous reviewer regarding Jack Russell. This album sux without Jack singing these songs. The band sounds good as usual but the singer is awful.
No one can sing these songs like Jack and the nerve of the rest of the guys to bill this as Great White is disrespectful to the fans. An outright travesty. About 5 years ago I saw
Great White here in ATL(Duluth/Wild Bills) with Jack and it was great. He is the voice of
GW and always will be. Until the rest of the band gets their head out of their ass and makes
up with Jack, if possible, I will not buy this product or any future material with an imposter singer.

If you're a real fan of GW and Mr. Russell, do not buy this product or anything
else without Jack Russell. It s just not the same.

3.0 out of 5 stars I just can't shake it May 22, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I actually liked the most recent Great White album, elation. I was curious as to how the new singer would sound on the old material, so I bought this album as soon as it came out. With no disrespect meant to Terry, this version of the band just doesn't cut it. The singer strains to hit high notes that Jack made seem so easy. I also find it interesting, as another reviewer noted, that they do not do ANY songs off of the new album. The band sounds as tight as they always have, but without Jack singing these songs, it's just not the same. I would recommend this to absolute die-hards only. In my opinion, this shark has lost some of it's bite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds great and fun to listen to May 2, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This was a great sounding performance of the best old songs. I sounds like the band had a great time playing this material again. If you forget about the stuff with former singer/songwriter Jack Russell, it is a fun listen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is this a joke??? March 13, 2013

Great White without Jack Russell is not Great White. This clown from XYZ is trying his best to sound like Jack, but he falls terribly short. I will not support this hack-up band claiming to be GW.

I've seen alot of BS over my near 1/2 century on this earth but to advertise a 30 year celebration of a band after excluding their lead singer and being in litigation not even completely owning the name GREAT WHITE is disrespect to the fans and fraud! This is 3/5ths of the band AT BEST! Hell, last year they perpetrated a fraud by releasing new songs with the fill-in singer under the GREAT WHITE name and SURPRISE! THEY DON'T PERFORM ANY OF THAT MATERIAL!! Why? Because it's as inferior as this cover band calling themselves GREAT WHITE. They should call themselves GREAT WHITE LIE! BEWARE/AVOID!

What's next to be sold to the idiot buying public? An Ozzy Osbourne CD without Ozzy? LOL!! The gullibility of people sickens me as that is the only way bands like this can lie, cheat and steal to/from their fans. No Jack Russell is NO Great White just as you can't have a Led Zeppelin without Jimmy Page or Robert Plant! Of course, with the stupidity of the buying fans believing these bands BS, and their idiot robotic PAID TO LIE fan-base and family members who will bury my review with lies about how WONDERFUL this travesty is, one day there probably will be a Zeppelin with Plant and idiots will buy AND defend it! No wonder people download free (and if you must go to and get this!)and no wonder the music scene is dead....all the deception.

Gonna suck!
I agree(Mike from review). It's not GW without Russell. I can't imagine this iteration of GW will last very long. The fans will not accept this "version" of GW.
