Product Description

This 300-millimeter lazy susan aluminum turntable bearing is a single-row bearing for supporting radial loads. It has a load capacity of 330 pounds and the complete assembly has a diameter of 300 millimeters.

Rolling bearings use rolling elements to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. These elements can be one of the following types: ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindle, or tapered. All rolling bearings are open, shielded, or sealed. Sealed bearings are lubricated with oil or grease in the bearing factory, while open and shielded bearings are meant to be lubricated in place, with periodic reapplication of lubrication, based on use. The shield protects the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris that may be introduced and could reduce the ball bearing speed and lifespan. Rolling bearings are used in a range of applications from agricultural machinery to conveying equipment, robotics, dental equipment, elevators, rolling mills, ship rudder shafts, and aggregate crushers, among others.

I bought this bearing for a 20" table top lazy susan I built in my shop, hoping for something that would be smooth and quiet and an improvement on a stamped sheet metal bearing I had purchased earleir--suitable for a dining table accessory. This bearing fills the bill. It is made with two precision machined rings and precision ball bearings. Each ring has six holes drilled in it, and the product ships with a plastic insert in each hole that can be used to offset the bearing from the rotating table and base plate by about 1/8", but in my opinion, they are a little too large (thick) for that purpose and would make my lazy susan a little taller (thicker) than I would like. I would have given this product 5 stars, except for the fact that only 3 of the 12 holes in the two rings were thru-drilled (3 of the 6 in the inner ring were thru-drilled and counter-bored for flathead screws--no screws are included). In the outer ring all 6 holes were drilled only part-way through the ring. In order to affix the bearing to both a rotating table and a base plate I had to thru-drill and counter-bore three of the existing holes. This is not difficult to do, but it raises the risk of getting shavings in the bearings. This work should have done on the bare rings before the ball bearings were installed. Otherwise this is a very nice product.

I purchased this bearing to make a 3 foot solid wood prize wheel, I needed a heavy duty bearing that could handle the radial load. The bearing is VERY solid and precision built, the opening between rings is almost too small, and caused some difficulty in getting grease in the bearing, but should serve well to keep any debris out of the bearings. As another user mentioned, I had to drill through some of the holes to properly mount it (I also had to countersink these, but that may not be the case for everyone), and keeping the drilling burrs out of the bearing was the largest concern with this. You will also need to buy your own screws/bolts as there is no hardware provided (or info on the hardware). I had to go to the hardware store and get several #10 machine screws to be able to mount the bearing. Once mounted it provides a very smooth action (I used some lithium grease to really give it a clean spin to get that wheel of fortune feel) and is very strong and has no issues holding up the 3' diameter 3/4" plywood round on its side.

A large outdoor patio table had a plastic turntable ring that enabled a glass lazy susan to rotate on top of the main glass tabletop. A year in the hot sun, sandwiched between two layers of glass, cause the plastic unit to warp and seize up. This metal turntable ring has performed fine so far, and I don't expect any of the warping issues even after exposure to sun and heat. This aluminum ring is what the table should have shipped with to begin with - why would you equip an expensive patio set with a cheap plastic turntable ring?

In any case, we're not putting anywhere near the rated load on this unit, but it's definitely up to the task.

I ordered this as a replacement for the lazy susan bearing set that came with my patio table. The original was plastic and after a few years fell apart. I'm impressed by this one because it isn't plastic, so I expect much longer life, rotates easily and smoothly, and grips the table well.

I purchased this bearing twice, for making 15 inch diameter lazy susans. I found that both bearings I bought, though very sturdy and capable of holding a lot of weight, were a bit stickier than I'd have liked. These are manufactured by VXB, but customer service at the website could not really offer support for bearings purchased via this route. They told me I could lubricate with a light machine oil or silicone lubricant. I applied some 3-in-1 oil quite sparingly, as I did not want it to bleed onto the wood I was attaching. That loosened things up a bit, but the lazy susans still had a tendency to slide rather than turn when not loaded. I replaced the hard plastic feet with small "grippy" rubber feet on the bottom and that helped immensely. Those hard plastic feet tended to fall out of their mounting holes anyhow.

All the sizes in the description were spot on, but these are industrial grade products. Measure before you cut.

An outdoor-table lazy susan went defunct - replaced the ball bearings, etc., with this and it works perfectly - we can lift the glass turn table and clean under which is nice ...

I'be bought a dozen or so of these. They work smoothly and well, and are easy to install. Well worth the extra cost.
