With this book, the talented sewer and quilter will never want for ideas in making holiday quilts. Saffiote created 301 patterns that can be used to craft quilts, pillows, hot pads, and table runners. Familiar wintertime motifs, such as snowmen, snowflakes, and hats and mittens, are featured along with traditional Christmas images, such as stars, stockings, angels, Santas, and wreaths. Patterns representing the 12 days of Christmas, based on the classic holiday song, are also included. This book isn't just for fans of country style, for the variety of patterns will attract many sewers, and folk art influences many of the squares as well. Using the four different techniques of appliqued, embroidered, pieced, and template-pieced, Saffiote's patterns are challenging but eye-catching and unique. The different techniques and stitches are explained and illustrated at the beginning, but first-time quilters may need to look elsewhere.
