5.0 out of 5 stars A great environmentally-friendly and cost-effective option
I was a little skeptical at first regarding this product. It seemed too good to be true as a less expensive alternative to a brand new toner cartridge. However, I'm one for environmentally-friendly options, so I thought I would give this a try. I bought the single refill kit rather than the 3-in-1 to be conservative and try the product out first.

2.0 out of 5 stars Instructions did not match cartridge
Unfortunately, this kit did not work for me. The instructions did not match my cartridge (and yes, I am absolutely sure I ordered the right kit). The screws weren't in the same place and once they were out, the lid still wouldn't come off. I tried, very carefully, every way I could to remove the lid, but it wouldn't budge. I tried a few different angles of attack, and...

For starters, this is a great product and I am completely satisfied with it for my Samsung ML-2510 laser printer. On a practical level, the difference between going through the refill process and buying a brand new toner cartridge is the time, but even then it was only about 10 minutes.

They include instructions, a toner refill bottle, a funnel cap for the bottle, toner wipe cloth, latex gloves, and a fuse (in case your cartridge uses them). It actually was not as messy as I expected, but I definitely would recommend doing this only outdoors or a dedicated workshop area since it has the potential of getting messy.

The instructions are simple, but really all you need. Just be patient and go through each step as instructed one-by-one. Be patient with refilling the cartridge. I recommend having the funnel cap inserted completely into the toner core of the cartridge. You may have to give the cartridge a few taps so the toner settles in the cartridge and the bottle a tap or two to completely empty it. One bottle should completely empty into the cartridge. As instructed, do not touch the green drum.

After that, simply reinstall the cartridge back into the printer and start printing. Print quality was fine. I don't do any major quality prints, so I can't distinguish subtleties, but it looks pretty good to me.

One thing of note, this option may not completely eliminate having to buy a toner cartridge since Laser Tek recommends refilling it no more than 2-3 times. I haven't gotten there yet, but even this offers a significant advantage in cost-effectiveness and being environmentally-friendly over buying a brand new toner cartridge each time I run out of toner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised and impressed, January 16, 2009

Truth be told, I wasn't expecting much out of this product. Faced with spending $80 for a new OEM cartridge or $30 for a remanufactured, I thought I'd roll the dice and buy the $10 toner refill kit. We insert large tubes of toner at work in the multi-dollar multifunction printer/copiers...why not try the same thing at home?

The kit arrived quicker than I expected. Included was a bottle of toner, a screw-on lid to aid in filling the cartridge, a plastic bag with latex gloves with a cloth and an illustrated guide. I'll admit, I was somewhat apprehensive about refilling the cartridge, but the guide was well-designed and the whole process only took about 10 minutes. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver and a flat head screwdriver but it's not difficult. The main thing I have to insist is that you TAKE YOUR TIME. If you go too fast, the toner will spill, one way or another. I'd recommend you do it in a garage or other unfinished area. I did it in my office and all was well until I got too cocky and a bit of toner spilled on my desk. Not a big deal, but if you've ever dealt with toner, even a little will go all over the place. If this happens to you, remember the number one rule: Always wash your hands/clothes/carpet with cold water. Warm water will make the toner permanent and you're screwed.

I tested the refill right away with a 350+ page print (text + graphics) and saw no issues. No streaks (which was my major concern), no toner on the pages, nothing out of the ordinary. The printer still wanted to report that it was low on toner, but I unplugged both the power cord and the USB cable and it was happy after I reconnected.

Overall, I'm very happy with the toner refill kit. As I said earlier, I was expecting next to nothing, but was happily surprised. The kit says the cartridge can be refilled 2-3 times. I'll probably buy one more kit when I need it, but won't press my luck past that.

Although the kit has worked for a few hundred pages, if I run into any problems, I'll quickly post a retraction. Until then, you should be comfortable in trying this kit. Just make sure to take your time refilling the cartridge!

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better deal than a new cartridge!, January 20, 2009
This review is from: One 310-6640 Black Dell 1100 High Yield Toner Refill Kit, also for Samsung ML-2010 ML-1610 Dell 1110 Printers & Samsung ML-1610D3 ML-2010D3 Toner Cartridges (Electronics)
The refilling process took me about 20 or 30 minutes, since I was working slowly so I wouldn't spill the toner or mess up the drum. It went very smoothly, and the first few pages I've printed look just as good as the day I bought the printer. Much cheaper than buying a whole new cartridge, and less wasteful. If you can use a screwdriver and don't mind getting your hands a little dirty, buy this toner refill!

I have to admit I had my doubts about these inexpensive "refill" kits and I'm usually a big believer in "you get what you pay for" but this product works for me... just make sure you do the refill in a well ventilated area, if you're not careful you'll send up a nice cloud of carcinogenic toner and you don't want to suck that stuff into your lungs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks sketchy, prints masterpiece, August 27, 2009
This review is from: One 310-6640 Black Dell 1100 High Yield Toner Refill Kit, also for Samsung ML-2010 ML-1610 Dell 1110 Printers & Samsung ML-1610D3 ML-2010D3 Toner Cartridges (Electronics)
First week of school: $500 of books (law school is expensive), $20,000 for the semester's tuition (real expensive), and $20 worth of beer (not so expensive). So of course, I go to print my first set of assignments and come up dry. It's a mad dash to find how to afford both of my two majors consumable expenses (beer and printer ink). So, I look at a net cartridge: $70! I have books that were cheaper than this (not much)! So I look for less... "recommended" means of getting ink. I look at a few places, and all of them say that refilling this particular model of printer is cheap, east and fun(TM)! So, despite serious reservations and a shaky hand, I decide to order the refill kit. It arrives later the same week (USPS WIN!) as I am trying to pen in some of the missed lines in the characters on a paper. So, screwdriver in hand and bedecked in solid black, I slide on the gloves and go.

I can unequivocally state that this was the easiest computer hardware job I have ever done (yes, including installing RAM). Two screws, you can slide off the end cap with your hands as well as the inner plug. I managed to not spill much toner everywhere; the funnel top prevents it from flying everywhere. It was too late until I realized what the blue cloth was for, since instead of wiping of the end of the cartridge I pulled the "human caned air" maneuver. In related news, the toner also doesn't taste bad either. All told, the procedure was a success: no missing limbs, I didn't lose an eye, and I didn't get a "Your Printer is on Fire" error.

In all, it was cheap, painless, and quick. So, exactly the opposite of school.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra Life From Your Printer Cartridge - at a Considerable Savings, August 1, 2009

This review is from: One 310-6640 Black Dell 1100 High Yield Toner Refill Kit, also for Samsung ML-2010 ML-1610 Dell 1110 Printers & Samsung ML-1610D3 ML-2010D3 Toner Cartridges (Electronics)
I originally had purchased a Samsung ML-2010 laser printer a couple years ago and have since given it to my mom to use. When she ran out of toner just a few weeks ago (this was the same toner cartridge that originally came with the printer) then we started searching around for an alternative solution instead of spending a bunch of money for a whole new cartridge. Considering how much a whole new toner cartridge costs ($70-$80) I thought to give this toner refill kit a shot. I mean, for ten bucks if it didn't work then big whoop. At least I wouldn't be out eighty bucks. I am pleased to say this kit does the job. However, heed my advice and read the instructions that come with the kit. I am one of those Tim Taylor types who believes real men don't need instructions, but sometimes (as was the case here) we do.

I accidentally overfilled the cartridge with the toner, so be careful of how much toner you pour into it. It's not a big deal since the printing will even out over time as my mom uses the printer. I could have opened it back up and dumped out some of the toner, but that stuff is like black magnetic dust and it clings to everything. If you do decide to go with this solution for your toner cartridge then I highly recommend you read this web page here (http://www.lowtek.ca/roo/2008/samsung-ml-2010-toner-refill/), which I found after a Google search. This page was extremely helpful in figuring out how to take the toner cartridge apart to get at the refill cap on the end so I could pour the new toner into it.

All told we are extremely pleased with this Samsung ML 2010 Toner Refill Kit by Laser Tek. It was very thoughtful of them to include a page with precise instructions along with extra cleaning rags and rubber gloves to protect your hands from the toner. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to get some extra life out of their printer at a considerable savings.

I ordered this toner replacement when my laser printer ran out of ink. I thought it was worth a try before I ordered a replacement cartridge. It was easy to follow the directions, and easy to fill my cartridge. My printer is printing just like new! I would recommend anyone use this product instead of a new cartridge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great!!, April 1, 2009
If you are careful enough to pour the toner slowly, it won't get messy. Instructions are very clear and please read them all before starting.

I'm not sure how many times you can refill a toner cartridge, I guess I'll find out sometime in the future. It just takes a couple of screws and a cap.

Pour the toner out, refill, replace cap and replace screws. That simple.

Don't do it in a windy area.
