2.0 out of 5 stars frustrating March 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This appears to be the beginning of another series. Mr. Wise is a great writer.(I loved the Deadlocked series) BUT-- This book doesn't tell a complete story, it's just an opener for future books in a series. 99% of this book was character development and story set up. The 1% of real action seemed like an afterthought. I was very much invested in the characters but there was no payoff in the end. ARGH!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner! January 6, 2013

As mentioned at the end of Deadlocked 6, I found this free on Smashwords, thank you Mr. Wise!

I could not stop reading this, I had to know the secrets! Very intriguing, and gruesomely awesome! Can't wait for the next one...

1.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like it... May 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really did want to like this book. It was a really great idea for a story! But I couldn't get past the following, and it really ruined it for me:

1. The conversations between people got to be too long. tedious, teenager-ish, and sometimes had nothing to do with what was happening.
2. I couldn't really understand the story, though maybe that was the point because,
3. it was "to be continued".

I stuck with it though, because I really wanted to find out what happens in the end! But, see number 4. It just wasn't enough of a cliffhanger for me to want to read a second book, if there is one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! January 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Mr. Wise has captured me again.

The storyline of 314 is amazing. You start off in the middle of it all, you are pulled in and there is no coming out until you are finished. Really toys with your mind, i loved it!

I can't wait until your next story. Thank you!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get this book unless you like continued stories. November 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The main body of the book is interesting and well written although the first few pages almost ended it for me because of the subject and I quit reading it for several weeks.

Then I started looking at it again. The story line was new, the book interesting, until you start getting to the end. Then I became very confused and had to go back several times to the last few pages and keep rereading it to figure out what was being said. THEN you get to the end and it says "to be continued.."

Perhaps this was noted somewhere but if it was I missed it. I felt like I had wasted a number of hours on reading a book that was a total waste of time! What a bummer! I'll be a lot more careful in the future to try to avoid something like this again. I would not recommend it nor would I care to read another of this authors books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate to diss a free book....but February 28, 2014
By DCM
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just couldnt get into this one and gave up after about 30%

So, the thing that really killed this one for me was the deadly (as in boring) flashback/flashforward style of delivery. This seems to be a current favorite of indie authors and i wish they'd get over it cuz most of them arent doing it well.

Something bad happened on 3-14 sixteen years ago, and in the present the survivors are still dealing with the aftermath, which is heralded by the appearance of a green fog, with a sinister looking man peering out of it, andthen things run amuck, until we flashback again to 3-14.

I made it through 3-4 iterations of this cadence before getting bored and deleting it.

If you are a big fan of child molestation type horror, you may be able to hang on. I couldnt, not even for free.

Am at a loss to explain the mostly strong reviews this story got.

This book does much to restore my faith in the horror genre. The pacing and characters are superb. The violence is incredibly balanced. I can't wait for the next one! Another hot for Mr. Wise.

Good idea, written in a creative way, gory but needed in order to tell the story unlike some books that just throw it in.

It's bloody confusing. I really wish I had liked it by the end. A good premise ruined by being too eager to write a Trilogy. Read more
