The TV itself is nothing great, in terms of quality. However, if Vizio did not have the worst customer service ever, the below-average quality would be made up for by the below-average price. However, they have the WORST customer service you could even imagine. Check out this story:

The TV itself is nothing great, in terms of quality. However, if Vizio did not have the worst customer service ever, the below-average quality would be made up for by the below-average price. However, they have the WORST customer service you could even imagine. Check out this story:

I ordered from them in mid-March. They shipped it FedEx, pretty late. Had to take the day off from work to take delivery. So far, ok, if annoying. Then, because of their crappy packaging material, the TV is broken on delivery. Now the nightmare starts in full: it took me at least 3-4 calls to find someone who could figure out what to do for me to get a replacement. Their people are not the brightest, to say the least.

Then THEY started calling ME: "why are we sending you a new TV?" "we don't see you in our system" "where are you in our system" (Yeah. They kept demanding I tell them where I was in THEIR system). I tried to get them to tell me how to send back the old, broken TV. Noone could tell with any certainty or clarity. One of their guys could barely speak English. But I was finally promised a "return label" in the new TV's package, which I could use to send back the old one.

And yet it got even worse: on the day the new one arrived, I had to take a day off from work again for this delivery. Now UPS had the unfortunate task of delivering for these idiots. Of course, the return label was NOT provided as promised. At this point I'm so pissed off I can barely stand up straight. I've been on the phone with their rude nasty people at least a dozen times, EACH TIME being interrogated as to exactly where "I was" in their broken system. So after more calls, finally a manager calls me. And says someone will pick up the old broken TV that day. This is the first person at the company who seemed like she had a brain above the reptilian level. An actual human being. Wow. At Vizio. She is truly the exception.

The clicher: today, MORE THAN 10 DAYS AFTER I THOUGHT THIS NIGHTMARE WAS FINALLY OVER (!!!) some cretin "customer service manager" named "Donovan" or whatever (who had the nerve to tell me she did not HAVE a supervisor or manager, apparently she thought I would believe she reported straight to the president - "and he's in Taiwan a lot" she helpfully informed me - nice tidbit, huh?). She begins to AGAIN interrogate me as to where I was in their system, and threatened me that they would charge my credit card for another TV, or repossess their old one, if I did not cooperate.

Un-believable! Just incredible. At this point, the modest savings of a couple of hundred bucks earned by buying Vizio were more than outweighted by the lost time and aggravation.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and DO NOT deal with these clowns.

They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the Price, January 10, 2007
This review is from: 32-Inch VIZIO L32 HDTV High Definition Widescreen LCD TV - L32HDTV (Electronics)
I bought this TV from Costco and was very impressed with its features and functions. Out of the box, it's attractive and has clean lines. If you do a side-by-side comparison to a comparable 32" Sharp or Toshiba, you'll definitely notice that the Vizio is not as bright, but the clarity of the picture is just as sharp. And given the fact that the price of the Vizio can be $300 - $500 less than the comparable name brand sets, the difference in brightness is not enough to make me spend the extra money.

There is no comparison between this set and its lower end competitors in the same price point. The Emerson's, the Westinghouse's, and the Sceptre's just don't compare in picture or product quality. The Olevia runs a close 2nd, but given Costco's generous 3-month, satisfaction guaranteed return policy, for me there was no comparison.

What I can't get over are all of the features included in the TV... HDTV picture quality, Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Picture-on-Picture (PoP) or split screen, integrated HD tuner, can be used a PC monitor, decent speakers, universal remote, etc. The only drawback that I see to this product is that it only has one HDMI input.

Otherwise, it's a great TV for . I have it mounted on the wall in my bedroom and I love it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Start For Your HD Experience, February 6, 2007
By
This review is from: 32-Inch VIZIO L32 HDTV High Definition Widescreen LCD TV - L32HDTV (Electronics)
This is a review of the 32 inch VX32L HDTV from Vizio. This is my first HDTV and it has some fine qualities, as well as a few drawbacks. I received it as an Xmas gift in 2006 [...] and have had no serious problems with the set. I have had no chance to compare this set with others, so I can't be sure of it's comparable qualities to other makes and models.
PROS:
1) The HD channels look tremendous, as do my non-HD DVDs (once I got an "up convert" HDMI DVD player).
2) With only expanded basic (analog) cable, this TV gets an extra 150 channels my other (non-HD) TVs do not get. Though many of these channels are music channels or digital (or HD) versions of channels I get already.
3) There are plenty of possible connections (2 AV, 2 Component, 2 HDMI and 1 RGB and 1 coaxial) for other equipment/inputs.
4) There are 4 built in aspect ratio choices (normal, wide, zoom and panoramic) that can be changed at will. There are also 4 different picture settings (custom, standard, movie and game) built in.
5) There are extra features like picture-in-picture (but only between the TV and the other inputs, not two different TV channels), a freeze frame option for normal TV and a different kind of zoom that can be focused on any part of the screen.

CONS:
1) The TV picture doesn't always come on when you turn on the set. Turning it off and on again solves the problem.
2) On the digital and HD channels, the tuner often reports it gets "no signal" when there definitely is one. As a channel surfer, this can be annoying. But flipping to another channel and then back usually fixes that problem.
3) It takes a bit of futzing to make the regular channels look decent. This is more about trial and error and personal tastes than a real "con." And cartoons always look awesome on this set.
4) Even on the beautiful HD channels (and "upconverted" DVDs), there is some problem with pixelation when reds and browns are prevalent on the screen.
5) The buttons on the Vizio universal remote are quite small--though the remote has a large array of different functions.

For someone on a budget, this is a good starter TV for the HD experience. For someone with the newest generation of game systems (Xbox 360, etc.) this might also be a good choice. It took a couple of weeks for me to get used to the differences between an LCD TV and a regular tube TV. But now I often think the LCD quality is much superior to "regular" TVs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Vizio L32 HDTV, June 3, 2007
This review is from: 32-Inch VIZIO L32 HDTV High Definition Widescreen LCD TV - L32HDTV (Electronics)
It worked fine until the warranty was up. Then the power supply failed! Absolutely no help or advice from Vizio. They just said it's my problem. Apparently, the set is only supposed to last one year. I didn't expect them to fix it for free (although I understand that their power supply is prone to premature failure), but I did expect some advice or suggestions.
No more Vizio for me!

Do yourself a favor and buy anything BUT A VIZIO. Purchased on 7/13/06 and on 9/27/07 it caught on fire....YES...you are reading this right. IT CAUGHT ON FIRE! Thank goodness my wife and I were both at home and I was able to put the fire out very quickly. Talked with Level 2 Tech Assistance - they had a guy come out....said: yep, looks like the power supply burned up. Vizo was going to ship a power supply Tuesday, a week ago, and they said they would send it overnight. I have yet to see it. Why bother with sending a new power supply, the darn thing is toast anyway. Dumb people! Anyway, please do yourself a favor. If you have just bought one - quick take it back. Oh...and yes it is a Vizio 32 inch HDTV. Just one more thing...NO...I did not have a power spike. IT is plugged into a data shield as is my laptop and my receiver. The laptop and receiver are just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars I WAS SKEPTICAL - BUT I THINK IT'S AWESOME, May 14, 2007
This review is from: 32-Inch VIZIO L32 HDTV High Definition Widescreen LCD TV - L32HDTV (Electronics)
Purchased a 32" refurbihed model three months ago to use as a TV and computer monitor. CNET and CR gave it decent reveiws at the time. I bought this brand because it was the best price for an HDTV with PIP/POP (so I can watch TV while on the computer & internet - the primary use for me to do both at the same time.)

MAJOR PROS:
Looks great/normal (not pixelated) when using a low-definition source (unlike my 61" JVC which looks crappy with a lowdef source although I love everything else about that set). Anyway, I think it looks great.

Displays computer applications and photos just like my old 17" flat panel monitor - just tremendously larger.

Numerous inputs (Many inputs for each of the two tuners - ATSC and NTSC, so it also receives analog or digital programming over the air. Unlike many others, it is NOT just a monitor).

Remote and menus are easy to use (at least I think so, though it took some practice to learn the terms.)

CONS:
I don't like the speaker under the monitor.
I've never needed to use customer support, so no comment there.

COMMENTS:
I agonized over buying this set for a long, long time. I probably would have bought the OLEVIA (bought the 23" to replace my computer monitor originally but that's now in the guest room), but it didn't have PIP/POP - an absolute requirement as I stated above. I was worried about it being an "off" or "cheap brand", but I'm more than pleased and am now looking to purchase another VIZIO instead of another Olevia (for the master bedroom.)

BOTTOM LINE: Was the right TV for me with the right options at the right price. I'm going to buy another.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money., January 30, 2007
This review is from: 32-Inch VIZIO L32 HDTV High Definition Widescreen LCD TV - L32HDTV (Electronics)
I bought this TV in March of last year for my bedroom. I wound up using it very little. In October I couldn't get it to turn on anymore. So it went on the blink with minimal use. My husband said the problem seemed to be in the power supply. I looked online about customer service and found lots of bad reviews which said good luck with getting these things fixed. I decided not to fool with getting a repair because of those reviews, and returned it to the store for a full refund. Don't waste your money on this cheap brand, it's not worth the hassle.

This TV has a very nice picture for standard analog channels and a stunning HD picture. DVD's are very crisp as well. I have no complaints...I called customer service a few times with some questions..they were helpful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from Vizio!, January 10, 2009

This is not an inexpensive TV. This is a cheap TV! Do yourself a favor and stay away. It is guaranteed to fail (perhaps repeatedly). I've yet to meet anyone who has had one of these go for more than 3 years without a failure. Mine failed twice in 18 months - naturally the second failure was 30 days out of warranty! Oh and Vizio will scold you for not buying the extended warranty rather than apologize for a crappy product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great picture for a bargain LCD, May 10, 2007

This review is from: 32-Inch VIZIO L32 HDTV High Definition Widescreen LCD TV - L32HDTV (Electronics)
I am not disgruntled with this TV, but with a Samsing DVD recorder and Samsung customer service I previously reviewed.

I recently purchased the 37" Vizio LCD for $799.00. The set up was easy, and I was watching cable TV within 15 minutes of getting the TV home.

The HD channels are great once I calibrated using the Monster company's calibration CD. Digital channels are good. Standard analog is okay. I have now had the set for about two months and I am very happy with picture quality. Reliability has been great.

Now for the bad part. I was dissapointed with the sound quality from the two small speakers. They sound weak and tinny. However, I hooked them up to my new Mainstage HD speaker with subwoofer and the vitrual surround system sounds very nice. No amplifier or extra speakers and speaker wire necessary. My girlfrind appreciates that.

All in all I am very happy with my purchase. I have not, however, had to deal with Vizio's customer service so have not had the pleasure of pulling my hair out like another reviewer. I bought mine from Costco and they have a 90 day return for refund policy on TVs.
