Piece of junk,
By Spitfire "T" (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Safety Beam - Invisible Infrared Beam Alert / Alarm (Misc.)
I read a previous review that this thing was a piece of junk but ignored it anyway. Well, I should have listened. I own a business and needed a "fitting room" type sensor to alert me when customers came through the door. I thought that this device was doing the job although it was annoyingly loud even at its lowest setting. However, it stopped working after 2 weeks. I returned it and although was kinda PO'd that I had to pay to ship it back, I was hopeful that the thing was just a lemon and the next one I would get one would work. I was wrong. The second one stopped working, too!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Safety Beam - Invisible Infrared Beam Alert / Alarm (Misc.)
I bought two of these and ended up not using the second one, so I went up on Amazon to sell it and lo and behold I see all the negative reviews! I am really surprised... Although there were a couple of minor things that were annoyances, it worked well for me.I put mine at the bottom of our stairs because we were having issues with little gremlins coming down and sneaking candy in the middle of the night, and I was worried that if they could sneak around without my knowledge at night, that they would get into something more dangerous! The red light alerting the perpetrator to the fact that the alarm was there was annoying... but we covered it up with duct tape and all was well. It was also a small challenge to get the beams to touch each other... but it worked and after a few tries we became experts at it. We've used them for well over a year and have had no issues with them whatsoever, although they do go through batteries pretty quickly. But other than that we've been happy as clams, and there are no more gremlins to speak of! :)
