2002 civic,
This review is from: K&N 33-2192 High Performance Replacement Air Filter (Misc.)
There was no noticable difference in hp or gas mileage, but the biggest advantage is not having to unbolt the filter box every 12,000 miles to replace the air filter. For the price, this filter makes sense no matter what your needs are.

I bought this particular filter to replace the factory one. The difference was above average, better than the factory filter. But don't expect a dramatic change in performance.

Easy Installation, long term cost savings. I cannot say that I have seen an increase in fuel economy but my car seems to like the new filter. I am very pleased with this purchase. Would recommend. Take care of a Honda and it will take care of YOU.

Maybe noticed a slight increase in performance over a slightly dirty regular filter, but it definitely wasn't very noticeable and what was noticed was likely placebo. It was super easy to install into my 2003 Civic though, and I look forward to not having to replace it for quite some time.

I found that I got better part throttle response. I could use part throttle and not have the automatic downshift, where I used to have to get it to downshift. I can now drive without the engine going above about 3500 rpm.

I bought this from amazon. very quick shipping. Amazon even replace my missing order with new one and upgrade the shipping to overnight. the size perfectly match with my original civic part. Built-in quality is excellent. Can't wait to see an improvement in gas mileage. I will update this information later.

I had a round trip from NYC to TORONTO on my 04 Civic LX last week. The temp was around 42 degree and cruise @73mph. The MPG is 36.5. I think it did a good job.

It is superior to the factory air filter. My fuel economy is better and I can feel an increase in horsepower. Easy to clean and reoil.

The K&N drop in filter is easy to install and increased performance is realized immediately. It definitely pays for itself.

2002 Honda Civic EX,
This review is from: K&N 33-2192 High Performance Replacement Air Filter (Misc.)
This drop-in K&N air filter is i think the best air filters in the world. I would recommend this to everyone.
I bought this product from recommendation of my friends. I was using a genuine Honda air filter on a newly purchased Used Civic and i felt the lack of power then i bought a K&N air filter at a popular auto parts store and was happy about it(I would have saved some money if I bought it at amazon though.) I felt that the engine is more smoother in acceleration. my MPG going from LA county to Vegas is 36mi/gal which was the same as Honda advertised. I really haven't checked the MPG with the old air filter. I didn't use any dyno or machines to give me a definitive and objective increase in HP and torque so doubts are welcomed but i can assure that there is no decrease in performance. id it did, i would have removed it. Some enthusiast did some test on the web showing that K&N's fitration capability is less efficient than others compared to paper filters. I'm not sure of its validity but im using it for more than a year with 30,000 miles and i cleaned/reoiled it at 15,000 miles and my engine is still working the same way i bought it a year earlier(with normal maintenance done eg oil change, etc.) and the inside of the air filter housing is still very clean on the clean side. no signs of extra oil and I have no malfunctioning MAF since I put this in. I do recommend this because its just going to pay for itself with or without the HP increase, the company says clean and reoil this every 50,000 miles but i do it every 15k. put 50,000 miles on it and your saving air filter beyond that. the cleaner kit is around $10 and good for a lot of cleaning. Only cleaned onced so i cant really say how often it can be used. |
