4.0 out of 5 stars So charming!
This little car is a must for Brio collectors. My 2 1/2 year old son absolutely loves it! The only thing I was a little disappointed in is that the bell doesn't chime very loud. Or maybe I should be happy about that! Still a cute toy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but Quiet little car
I bought the Chiming Bell Wagon to add a little "music" to the growing railway set I am building with my 18 month old grandson. I was disappointed by the quietness of the bell. This is a cute little addition to any wooden trainset! My son loves this little bell cart. It is well made and durable.

However, it is very soft. If you have the battery run train, the noise of the engine will drown out the bell ringing on this little cart.

These wooden trains are great! I like the fact that they require imagination as the magic ingredient for play. They encourage small motor skills, creativity, imagination and more. They might not be educational as we think of educational *(ABC's etc) but they are very worthwhile.

Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A quiet bell, February 6, 2003

This wagon makes a low ringing sound as the small hammers at each end of the wagon hit the bell when the wagon moves along the track. The resulting sound is a little too low but it is a fun addition to the train collection for young kids to enjoy.

I bought the Chiming Bell Wagon to add a little "music" to the growing railway set I am building with my 18 month old grandson. I was disappointed by the quietness of the bell. I had hoped for a more distinct ringing bell sound as the train moved around the track. If we use one of the battery powered engines the bell is only heard if we lean over the track as the car passes by us. Even so, my grandson loves the little car and often plucks it off the track when it comes near. He holds it up to me and says, "ding ding". So even though I would be happier with a louder bell, the toy is accomplishing my ultimate goal, to give my grandson toys he will enjoy and that we can enjoy together.

This look a lot cuter than it really is. I agree with the reviewers who are all disappointed. The bell barely dings - actaully it works better when my toddler rolls it on our tile floor - not wood tracks. However for the money, I'd put the $11.99 towards a better accessory. This is a car that you could easily live without!

The bell on this piece SHOULD be louder than it is. It really hardly makes any sound at all. However, it is a very cute piece and is a nice addition to your set. Look for a sale though - I think the price is a little high for what you get.
