My uncle owns this country gardens fountain / birdbath and almost everyone that visits him also wants to purchase one. The solar feature really does work wonderfully in full sun, on partly cloudy days it works with less pressure and of course at night, in the shade, or mostly cloudy times it does not work at all. The trickling water sound is one of the best features, it is a very relaxing sound that can be heard well within a 20+ foot radius. It is attractive wether the sun is activating the fountain or not. Extremely easy to set up. Birds visit the water wether the fountain is on or off.

I was shocked to read a very bad review about this great item as it looks and works exactly as described. Yes it does need cleaned (skim the top weekly and clean inside monthly) but this cleaning is needed as expected and as described in the instructions.

I too will purchase one of the "Smart Solar" fountains for my garden.

This is an absolutely beautiful fountain; I just love it. I have gotten so many compliments from all my neighbors. You just screw the large basin onto the base, place the small basin on top, put the fountain in a sunny spot and fill with water and it works immediately. It couldn't be easier.

On day one, it was fun to watch. It worked perfectly. 3 months later, it died. In between, it required a lot of work to keep clean. The water you put in recycles itself and begins to evaporate and has to be replenished manually. It attracts birds and insects and dirt. It frequently needs cleaning to remove debris. Since the water recylces, it can get really grungy and dirty. So cleaning has to be done once a week. At the end of the three months, I was almost happy that it died. I was sick of cleaning it.

As I look back on it... It wasn't all that. It looked cheap and the fountain head was a vulgar black piece plastic. The solar battery was very obvious and not strong enough to make a dramatic fountain. It would be okay for something small, but not something of this size. It would be perfect for an indoor fountain, but it can't work inside because of the direct sun requirement. Never again.
