I loved this book, even the questions I hated answering.

This book is the best! Got one for myself, and I'm now making a list of people to buy it for. It's like the little voice in your head that tries to guide you to a better and better-lived life, but funnier, more probing, and better looking. (Well, better-designed.) It kind of hurts to write in a book that looks this good, but I recommend it - really thinking through these questions has given me new insights on how to envision and jumpstart my creative life. Also enjoyed the sets of guest questions (with some pretty shmancy people in there). I've learned a lot about myself, and had fun to boot.

I randomly stumbled across this book and decided to order it and I'm glad I did. This is a book of questions geared towards designers, but applicable to anybody. There are questions in this book I've never asked myself and there are others that I can't seem to stop thinking about. This book is written in interactive flowcharts, so you write your answers directly in the book. It took me about three days to fill it out and during that time, I found myself rather introspective. It's extremely helpful if you're interested in doing a life evaluation or are at a crossroads and are unsure about what to do next.

Buy two copies.... one to use now, and another sometime in the future. At first the questions may seem off-the-wall, but they make you think, they make you examine things and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than therapy!

This is an update to my original review... I originally purchased the Kindle version. I really liked the book a lot, even trying to read it on my Kindle Fire. In my original review I complained about the challenges of reading it on the Kindle and warned others not to purchase this version. The author was kind enough to reply to me, tell me how to get a refund (I'm new to the Kindle, didn't know I could do that!) and that he has asked for the Kindle version to be removed.

I purchased the Flexibound book and I love it! I wish it was a bit bigger, though that would likely increase the price of the book (love the price, so I'm stick with this size!). I have been writing on the pages, as intended, and I find this book to be very helpful. I am a mom of 16 month old twins and I often feel scatterbrained from all the chaos of raising twins, working 2 jobs, and keeping up with day-to-day life. I have forgotten about my own goals, desires, thoughts, etc. This book is helping me remember and allowing me to actually write down these goals/desires/thoughts. While you could do this without the book, the questions that this book asks really get you to think about your life and what you want, which is important to me. I'm really enjoying this process and I'm trying to write in this book every night. Not only do I plan to revisit this book every few years (it will be fun to look back at my answers), but I think it might be a great book for my daughters to look at one day.

This is a fun, helpful book that I will be recommending to others! I also really appreciate the responses I received from the author, as I've never had an author respond to me before providing assistance. It was greatly appreciated!

I'm only on page 46, but filling the pages in when I can. I like that it's filled with "non-standard" not dull run-of-the-mill fare. It's creative and provocative. Plus, it's just damn pretty to look at and entertaining. My one and only critique is that I wish the pages were larger so there would be more room to scibble. (Or maybe I just need to learn to write smaller. Who can say?)

My suggestion to other readers:
1. Keep a scrap of paper under the page you are writing on if you are using a ball point pen. This will keep any ink from being pressed off if, like me, you get excited and put too much pressure on your pen.
2. Have an extra note book handy to continue ideas, inspirations, and other bits in. I found that I often have "spill over" - ideas that spring to life from the questions often grow with further exploration beyond the given pages.

This is not as much a book as it is a journal of discovery for the creative. Stefan Bucher, with much humor and wit, posits questions and strings of questions to get you thinking about why you do (and don't do) what you do and where you might venture in the future. I laughed so hard I cried, and I showed this to everyone that I encountered when I had the book anywhere within reach. But it also made me think and question my own questions, and I'm actually considering writing in it as the author requests. It is, after all, a journal.

I bought this book because I adore the author, even though we've never met. I got hooked on his humor with his Daily Monsters when I was in a very dark place. I found this book to be a very useful tool in helping me get unstuck from where I was. Some of the questions make you stand up and say "Hey, how did you know that?". It made me take a good hard look in the mirror and I have changed the way I look at some things and am working on some others. If you ever find yourself "lost" in the world you have created for yourself GET THIS BOOK. I was feeling invisible and wondering where the Hell I had gone. I have had the book for a year and I am still not through with all the questions. Not all of them apply to me but all of them make you think and look into where you are and why you aren't somewhere else. Do you want to be? It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me be a better person and it made me appreciate me. It's a great end to a midlife pity party. It ended mine. Thanks, Stefan
