odd shaped handle March 3, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase
I purchased the 35lb. wide handle "bell" first. Since I had never worked out with one before I had nothing to compare to and loved everything about it. The wide handle is great for 2 handed excercises (swings). In the begining I had no problems with the handle for one handed exercises. As my strength grew I found my self wanting a heavier bell and purchased a 53 pounder from a different maker. The 53 has a more standard (non wide) handle. After the first workout I realized that I like the standard handle much better! Doing cleans, snatches, and presses all feel better because my hand finds the right "spot" in the handle quicker and easier. With the wide handle I have to make a conscious effort to get my hand in the right position. This isn't that big of a deal, but it is enough of a deal for me to stick with the standard handle in the future. If someone was sticking mainly with 2 handed swings, no doubt the wide handle would be the way to go. Just my opinion.

Great piece of Equipment February 10, 2008
IF you are looking into working out with a Kettlebell, this is the ideal product you are looking for. Great starting wieght for all begginers into the kettlebell workouts. I have been using kettlebells for about a year now, and have been more than pleased with the results that I have seen. I recommend Kettlebells to everyone I meet. This product is great, but if you are looking into long term use I Would suggest buying a kettlebell with a rubber bottom. I have slammed this kettlebell in the ground a few times and have noticed small chips at the base of the product. However this does not hinder the equipment or the workouts with the product. I now own about 3 kettlebells and after my initial purchase have bought products with rubber bottoms and have not had the problem of chipping at the base. In Conclusion, buy this product if you are curious, or want to get into kettlebell excersizes.

It's a kettlebell! July 11, 2007
Not much more you can say than that! The wide handle helps a good bit, but it also makes it harder to control in some moves. I purchased the 35lb and the 15lb so that my lady and I could workout together. Build quality is very good, no visible seams in the metal - it looks cast. I highly recommend Pavel Tsatsouline's 'Enter the Kettlebell' or 'The Russian Kettlebell Challenge' book and/or video to get started. He is more descriptive of how you should or shouldn't work with kettlebells and the information he provides could very well save you some serious pain. Besides that, he is the prime figure in bringing kettlebells back into popularity in the USA and as such, deserves your cash =)

Ball of metal
Good product at a great price. The XL handle increases the functionality of the product. I believe it may be American made but not sure.
