5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great band
I saw them live in Dallas on 13 May 99 at UNION STATION....they were really great. Tight, Hi Energy, and every member was on the mark. Yep I bought the CD because of it! I suggest anyone interested in a raw but refined blues sound give this a listen. You will be impressed. You know I heard this Jim guy might be an actor too? Go figger!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Album
It's good but not great. Don't get me wrong, I'll listen to it and enjoy it. The band's good and the recording is as well. Jim's vocals are fine but nothing that's going to set anyone's ears on fire. I think I'd enjoy seeing him live. I hate saying bad things about good albums but this one is just kind of flat, sterile, etc. That's sad to say considering the band's...

5.0 out of 5 stars FORGET JAKE, January 14, 2005
This review is from: 36-22-36 (Audio CD)
Not that I recommend forgetting JAKE BLUES, but I do think that it's about time to really give some deserved recognition to Jim Belushi as a legitimate Blues singer. This is GREAT STUFF in the Chicago Blues tradition...My packaging is of a somewhat sexier cover of a tatooed Oriental vixen boosting her ...well, I honestly believe that if you like your blues in the Buddy Guy/ Junior Wells scheme of things then this is a must-have. Keep up the good work Jim, I look forward to future projects...As for the rest of you (reading this review), get this cd before it becomes hard to find...you'll never regret it, I promise!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Music to my Heart!!!, December 26, 2001
This review is from: 36-22-36 (Audio CD)
I have seen Jim, Jimmy Wood, Larry Lee and the rest of the band perform several times in California. The musc that they play as well as their performance is uplifting. Jim really does a great job, as does the rest of the band. My favorites are Jimmy Wood with his harmonica, Larry Lee's bass guitar work(the best!!). My favorite song is "The Chicken and the Hawk"..I can always count on that song to get me in a good mood.

Although I am not one for actors-turned-singers, Jim did a most excellent job on this album. My favorite cut was Leap of Faith........wonderful job! Hope to hear rumours of another album in the future......great job Jimmy B!

I love this CD, if I start to have a bad day at work, I put the cd in and perk right up. My favourite song is Leap of Faith.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Album, April 9, 2010

It's good but not great. Don't get me wrong, I'll listen to it and enjoy it. The band's good and the recording is as well. Jim's vocals are fine but nothing that's going to set anyone's ears on fire. I think I'd enjoy seeing him live. I hate saying bad things about good albums but this one is just kind of flat, sterile, etc. That's sad to say considering the band's performances are top notch. That being said, it's kind of like they all learned the songs in the studio the day they recorded them and just played the arrangements. As a result, they don't seem to have the spark to inject life into the songs. Buy this album and you'll probably enjoy it, I did. Just don't expect to be "over the top impressed". I wasn't.
