Another great album from 2raumwohnung, perhaps more poppy than their others,

This review is from: 36 Grad (MP3 Download)
Each of 2raumwohnung's albums seems to be built around a stylistic theme. In this case, 36 Grad is a mostly happy album, perhaps lighter and more pop-oriented than some of their others, but also with a mix of more "alternative" tracks that keeps things variegated. The title track is definitely catchy and fun, but my favorite tracks here are "Mir Kann Nichts Passieren," "Ich Bin Der Regen," "Eins Zwei Drei - Tschiu...," and "Lotus."
FWIW, 2raumwohnung has become one of my favorite "go-to" groups. Inga Humpe and Tommi Eckart are a musically gifted duo, and their albums consistently have great production and sound quality, engaging and interesting songwriting and arrangements, and lyrics that span the range from philosophically deep to sexy to satirical to silly to fun. These are not angry people, but they are nonetheless thoughtful and engaging. Buyers should also be aware that 2raumwohnung's lyrics are sung pretty much entirely in German. The music itself is so interesting though, and Inga Humpe's voice is so sweet, that you should not be deterred from buying their albums even if you don't speak German. That said, if you don't speak German, perhaps the best 2raumwohnung album to start with is Es Wird Morgen, but really, I think all their albums are very good, including this one, 36 Grad. |
