need box spring,

This review is from: 36 x 20 Bedrail (Baby Product)
My daughters bed does not have a box spring so we could not use this product. Unfortunately I didn't know it was necessary until after I purchased the product. I was very dissappointed that this would not work.

NOT FOR TODDLER BED!,
By
This review is from: 36 x 20 Bedrail (Baby Product)
Since my son was falling out of his toddler bed after we removed the side rail of his crib (due to the fact that he could climb over the rail), I searched for a side rail that was short enough to use on this abbreviated bed. This one seemed like it would work, and several reviewers mentioned that they were using it on a toddler bed. However, when the package came in the mail, I noticed immediately that the text on the box had very clear warnings against using this rail on a toddler bed. First of all, it has to be used between a mattress and a box spring, which most toddler beds do not have. Secondly, there is supposed to be an 8 inch gap between the headboard/footboard of the bed and the end of the rail. I think that it would be risky to use this on a toddler bed, and when it comes to my child, I do not take risks like this. I returned the rail.

I purchased this bedrail last week and everything looked good until last night. My daughter sat up in bad and then fell backwards onto the edge of her pillow. She cracked her head on the SQUARE corner of this bedrail. Why would you put a SQUARE, METAL tube near a toddler's head. I quickly returned this product for the Safety First bedrail that folds down.

Instuctions need to be improved,
This review is from: 36 x 20 Bedrail (Baby Product)
I bought 2 of these rails (in white) and the instructions do say to be used with a matress & boxspring. I had to use commonsense to install it since the instructions are of no real help. We have a twin size bed with a high matress for our 2 yrs. The square bar is just below the top of the matress so that it does not touch her when she's sleeping. She's been taking her naps in her bed and no roll overs or falling out. So far so good. The only con is the instructions. It does not say how to fold it down. I got it by looking at the image. When you have the lower bar set to unlock, each of the hidged bars have arrows on it. Pull them up at the same time and voila! it folds down! Sorry if my comment is long but I want to give out as much info for those who are thinking about buying it, especially those that cannot figure out how to fold it down.

Simple Safe Design. Easy to use.,

We bought the other kind first, thinking the more expensive product was probably better. It wasn't. THIS ONE IS GREAT. It's MUCH easier to set up. MUCH easier to use. Great protection (at least for an active 35 pound 2-1/2 year old).
Don't buy the other model. that one is frustratingly complicated (and I studied mechanical engineering); and it can permanently deform your mattress. THIS model is great. We're much happier with it, and it saved us money!

WOULD YOU PREFER A DIFFERENT COLOR??,
By
This review is from: 36 x 20 Bedrail (Baby Product)
I LOVE, LOVE this bedrail. However, I DID NOT LIKE the blue color. After reading all of the reviews on this website and others, I was convinced that it was the one for me. However, I wanted an ALL WHITE one. I saw that DEX was the manufacturer. So I went to WALMART in search of a white one. I FOUND THIS EXACT one, with three exceptions. It's all white and it's 17.5 inches tall instead of 20 inches. This was good for me because my daughter's bed sits so low to the ground that when I fold down the rail, it would not fold down all of the way if it were 20 inches. The third exception is the price. I paid $17.88 instead of $19.99 online (plus you'd pay shipping). THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX WILL READ "PARENTS CHOICE". DEX is clearly the manufacturer as you will see that on the assemly instructions inside. It was SO EASY to put together. However, do make sure you face the fine black print on the screen OUTWARD when assembling. They tell you that last for some reason. If you want a PERFECT bedrail, buy this one. If you want all white, go to Walmart & get this exact one with the exceptions listed above.

Great Product!,

I am so impressed by this product. It required no tools and was quick and easy to assemble. The base simply slips right between the mattress pad and box spring and doesn't do any damage to either one. It has a latch that allows me to fold it down so I can easily change the sheets. Due to the safety strap anchor it doesn't move around even with weight against it. It is well built and sturdy. Even the design and color look nice. This is a great product, affordable, and it works. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Works on tall Mattress!,

This review is from: 36 x 20 Bedrail (Baby Product)
I was planning on buying a different rail but the cost with shipping etc... was aweful. So I went to the store and picked this one out - I am very pleased. It was easy to put together. It fits on our tall King size mattress and is very sturdy! My 2 year old pulls and tugs on it and it barely moves. I feel very safe with it. One drawback, it is 20 inches tall so it may not fold down easily if your bed is low.

I purchased this bedrail (well, the white one at Wal-Mart) after reading some of the reviews. I am using on my daughter's toddler bed, and can't seem to find any safety issues with that, except that there is not a 9 inch gap from the headboard.
I pushed the rail all the way towards the headboard so there would be a good space for her to crawl into her bed at the bottom. Some of the reviewers stated that they don't like this system because it has to be used with a mattress and box spring, and the metal bar is square. You do not have to use a mattress and box spring, just leave those straps and round piece off (it states in instructions that it is optional). And you do not put the metal stabilizer bar in the pocket if your mattress is under 10" high. If your mattress is high enough, this bar will be BELOW the mattress height, thus eliminating the worry over your child hitting his/her head. I am very pleased with this bed rail, and will sleep much better knowing my 20 month old toddler won't be falling onto the floor any more! |
