5.0 out of 5 stars The man rocks!!!
This is one of those that I took a chance on...and I was not disappointed! The flow throughout the CD was jazz with a R & B funk! None of his guest artist "mails it in". I kept waiting for that one that I wanted to skip, and it didn't happen. If you're trying to turn a young lady on to the world of smooth jazz, put on the candles, break out the wine, and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that great
I realize I'm going against the "norm" in regard to other reviews, but this was less than I was hoping for after reading all the other rave reviews. I don't really care for all the vocals, plus it has that Sanborn kind of sax sound in some of the songs that I never really cared for. In my experience, I took a chance and got a whimper instead of a bang. I'll listen to...

I recently discovered Jimmy's music while looking for something new to buy. I must tell you this CD has been playing in my car for the last few weeks. I Love all the tracks! I specially enjoy the track "Let's go Party". Great for playing while you're cruisin' the town. Other great tracks I especially enjoy: James Cafe, Stay Awhile, and the very sultry: Lovin' you. Jimmy's sax playing is definitely smooth. I'm now a fan...

5.0 out of 5 stars Saxxy Saxxy, September 2, 2001

I was first introduced to this CD by hearing Menage a Trois with Les Nubians over the radio. I'm a great fan of Les Nubians from their first CD. When I heard the song, I thought to myself, "that brother can really jam on the sax." Little did I know that the "blue-eyed brother" was the featured artist, Jimmy Sommers, who I was not familiar with. A few days later, I went to a music store, put the earphones on, and listened to several other cuts. I was hooked! He features several guest artists such as Norman Brown, Eric Benet, and Raphael Saadiq, but make no mistake . . . he doesn't take a back seat to any of them. I just love the instrument of the saxophone in cool jazz, Dave Koz and others. Jimmy Sommers is the latest innovator. Buy this CD, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I cannot get enough of jimmysommers and his release 360 Urban Groove. It moves me over and over again. I first heard his release, Lowdown on WJJZ 106.1 Jun, 2000 and I am quite hooked. I got to see him in concert and he is as good in concert as he is on track. My favorites on the cd are; James Cafe', Tell me you got it, Lowdown and falling for you! it's all good!

This is the ultimate in smooth jazz music and I'm so glad that I am part of this new generation of jazz listeners.

Thank you jimmy baby catch ya on the Lowdown :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Passion In The Music, January 23, 2004

Jimmy Sommers in a word as I describe him is, Passion. He definitely has passion in his music. Besides his good looks and being from the windy city, the man is a true jazz artist. The cd of course is nice but all of his cds are. Wish I could see him in concert to get the real full effect of his passion. Keep the jazz vibes flowing and keep making passionate music for all to enjoy!

One Luv

4.0 out of 5 stars ...great uptempo radio friendly jazz..., March 15, 2002
This review is from: 360 Urban Groove (Audio CD)
...you can electric slide to this at a club or play this at home when you have some contemporary companionship that you want to get 'compatable' with...
i'm not a big smooth jazz fan, so wresslin four stars from me was a major accomplishment!!! jimmy sommers holds his own and his guests artists do the same...les nubes, norman brown, ginuwine, mr. tony-tone-toni himself: raphael saadiq, coolio (COOLIO!?!?! - yeah, but he jus barely mumblin thru a hook or two!), eric benet and sparkle...(i aint never been a big eric benet fan, but 'stay awhile' might actually get me to get up, get out and check his stuff out now)

overall...this aint a bad disc...most of it qualifies more as r&b played with jazzy instruments...but you can definitely sit back and enjoy this one...

One day I was listening to the radio and started a band, which came easily in the ear.
I called the radio station and said, that was the track "Lowdown" Jimmy Sommers.
I bought the CD and I was not sorry, because the CD contains other good tracks such as Falling for You, James Café, Lovin'You and Let's Go Party.

this is the first time that I have purchased a cd by this artist. I was very satisfied with his music ability, I will definitely continue to purchase his music in the future. In fact, I bought two of his latest CDs at the same time.
