The writings of E. Stanley Jones have profoundly influenced those seeking to walk with Christ for decades. His last work, The Unshakable Kingdom and the Unchangable Person was written when he was 89 years old. A friend highly recommended Abundant Living, a daily devotional that is now out of print. After seeing hers, I wanted my own copy. During my search I saw this book and assumed it was a reprint of the original. I should've paid attention to the fact that it was edited by Mary Ruth Howes. When my 2 copies arrived, I lent one to my friend and kept the other one. She quickly gave it back, saying it wasn't Mr. Jones writing, but Ms. Howes interpretation of his work. I found it flat and lacking the life of other writings by Mr. Jones. Also, there are questions, which well-meaning, lead the reader into a direction that may or may not have been the intent of Mr. Jones. There is also large annoying type that goes across the writing on each page. While well-intentioned, this didn't have the impact and insight that the original publication did. I donated my two copies to a thrift store and ordered the 1942 edition of Abundant Living from a used bookstore on Amazon. I'm thrilled with it!

I'm glad the previous reviewer got something out of this version. For me the original version is a treasure that leads the reader to a deep relationship with Jesus in an incredibly profound yet practical way.

Hope this helps!

Meaningful thoughts for today although this man lived a while ago....issues raised are pertinent to the eternal ...they are timeless and worthwhile to here and now.
