5.0 out of 5 stars Mary Becomes Real
As a Catholic, devotion to the Mother of God has always been a comforting and joyful part of my spiritual life. In some circles, however, the image of Mary has become remote and difficult to relate to - almost too perfect to be real. This book allows Mary to become real through use of the scriptures and by fleshing out details of what life must be been like for her...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
For those looking for a spiritual, and authentically Catholic view of Mary, it is not here. The view is decidedly superficial, the author being unable to comprehend that faith is a wonderous mystery, not dialog from a sit-com; i.e picturing Mary asking Joseph, when they are to flee to Egypt, just where he expects to find a donkey at that time of night. What nonsense...

5.0 out of 5 stars Mary Becomes Real, January 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: 365 Mary: A Daily Guide to Mary's Wisdom and Comfort (Paperback)
As a Catholic, devotion to the Mother of God has always been a comforting and joyful part of my spiritual life. In some circles, however, the image of Mary has become remote and difficult to relate to - almost too perfect to be real. This book allows Mary to become real through use of the scriptures and by fleshing out details of what life must be been like for her. The daily meditations give us a chance to become more thoughtful and reflective and, in short, better people. This is what the intercession of Mary and the example of her life has always been about - bringing us closer to God and closer to what He expects us to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide to spiritual evolution, September 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: 365 Mary: A Daily Guide to Mary's Wisdom and Comfort (Paperback)
This book has many good purposes. 1- to know more of how Mary is involved in our lives. 2- shows Mary as a human being just like us. 3- if you are not a Marianist, you can also learn to live the Christian life from this book by Mary's example. The reading is simple and blunt, and helps us grow a little each day in love and humility.

What nonsense! The Mother of God isn't a snappy one-liner; she is a profound gift, as evidenced by the late John Paul II dedicating his pontificate to her, and, writing extensively of her during his 26 year tenure. For true food for thought and meditation, any of John Paul's books will satisfy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Daily Messages from Mary, October 1, 2011

This review is from: 365 Mary: A Daily Guide to Mary's Wisdom and Comfort (Paperback)
This book is simply reflections and messages from Mother Mary. There is one for every day. After the main message there are questions one can answer or journal about. Some of these questions are very thought provoking. Many are very appropriate for what is going on in our life. A nice addition to one's library for spiritual readings and lessons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great everyday look at Mary!, February 8, 2011

This review is from: 365 Mary: A Daily Guide to Mary's Wisdom and Comfort (Paperback)
I have enjoyed spending 2011 with Mary. This daily book gives me a little perspective into what life was like for Mary (perhaps). Such topics are addressed: mid-life crisis, eating, shopping, etc. I look forward to my few minutes each day to spend with this Mom! This book does NOT make her seem any less Holy, but much more human!

5.0 out of 5 stars 363 days with Mary, November 16, 2010

This review is from: 365 Mary: A Daily Guide to Mary's Wisdom and Comfort (Paperback)
Great little reflections that make Jesus' mother more real to the reader, paralleling some very credible and delightfully surprising days in the typical woman's life experiences. Author captures Mary as an authentic feminist. I gave ten of these as Christmas gifts and got very positive feedback from the recipients. Just when you think there could be nothing else to say, Woodene finds another fascinating facet to her personality. Don't miss 365 days with the Saints.

This book inspired me to the realization that Mary is the queen of heaven, the Godess who with her God/Consort/ Son/ Created the universe~ Think of her the next time you see the full moon, the smile of a child or a tiny plant begining to grow. For She is our planet, and we are part of her, blessed be....
