I hate to say it, but this melodica walks the line between toy and instrument.

This is a good instrument, apparently well-built. Good price. ** It's a "C"-instrument. Keyboard's built F-to-F. ** Comes with two (2) mouthpieces, which is useful. And the carrying case is nicely done, protects the instrument when not in use. ** One drawback (for those who are concerned about this being a "toy"): Yes, you can make some beautiful music on this instrument. But the keys are 3/4 keys. Thus they are built FOR SMALL HANDS. Adult musicians will find keying this instrument a challenge. Doable, but tricky. ** Reeds have good "harminica-like" musicality, which is variable in quality, depending on breath-control. ** Would I buy this instrument again? YES! It's quite fun, (even with the 3/4 keys). ** =0)

It's what I expected. The tones aren't the greatest, and it's not the greatest build quality. Nonetheless, it's fun to play and I'll probably bring it to my next band practice to mess around with.

I love playing my melodica, its super fun, light weight, and easy to pack around. People never know what it is but always want one after I let them play it. Its great to let my 3yr old niece play, and I would totally buy it again.

As many others have said, this instrument is good for its price! I hate to say it, but this melodica walks the line between toy and instrument. The two mouthpieces are very nice and durable, and all of the keys work and play the right note.

However, for about the lower half of the register, the melodica will not play if you blow too hard. You can play as loudly as you want in the upper register, but it is pretty shrill and will get on your nerves after a few minutes of excessively loud playing. That being said, if you want to play at a respectable, indoor level, all the keys are fine. You just can't blare the lower notes.

It seems fairly durable, and the case is very nice and sturdy. The tube mouthpiece is surprisingly sturdy, as I found out after a veritable herd of kindergartners took my melodica from me and pretty much played tug of war with it. However, I would not suggest manhandling your melodica too often hahaha, it IS made of one hundred percent plastic.

It's a nice, not-serious instrument, especially for the cheap price. If you want an actually instrumental melodica, you'll have to pay more. But if you're not planning on playing your melodica in Carnegie Hall any time soon, this instrument does the job.

I actually bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He absolutely loves it. He had never played a Melodica before but being a musician he picked it up pretty quickly. My review is solely based on what he has said:
- The difference between the loudness of the high and low notes takes a little more breath control than usual
- Holding it is a little awkward: I think he would have preferred the kind that you can use 2 hands on
- It cuts off your breath when not holding down a key - he thought it was awkward but maybe they are all like that

Other than that I think he's really happy with it. He tends to bring it around with him and everyone gets a big kick out of it. The case is nice and convenient and he liked that there were 2 different mouthpieces (standard & hose). The color makes it fun too. Overall, it's a good product - cheap, easy to learn, fun to play, and entertains... What more could you ask for right?

This little guy is pretty awesome. the case is durable, it sounds pretty decent, but my only complaint is it builds up spit kinda fast and it's pretty gross to clean up.

the color is accurate to the picture, except the case is lighter.
