5.0 out of 5 stars More than Excelent
This DVD has just about everything you could want. It looks good, sounds good, and the band stays true to the past sound. The best concert avaible.

3.0 out of 5 stars It does'nt sound that bad .
I too have been a .38 Special fan since the very early '80s.
I read all of the reviews on this DVD and decided to buy it
anyway. Well, although (some) of the vocals are low, they are
just a little bit low. I had absolutly no problem hearing any
of the lyrics, some of the other reviews make it seem much worse than I think it is. But the actual...

is very good. The color is good and the picture is sharp.
It was not filmed with somebodys camcorder. I own the CD
and think the sound is very close, but not quite as
good. Hence, only the four stars. But I highly recomend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Find Waldo..., December 21, 2005
This review is from: 38 Special: Live at Sturgis (DVD)
From 63:45 through 63:50 on the DVD, can you spot the biker chick in the crowd flashing her t!ts at the camera? Worth the price of admission alone! I have a few comments about some of the other comments made here. Yes, the sound is a bit compressed, and the vocals on the first half of the DVD are quite low. The low vocals seem to improve considerably in the latter portion of the concert, but really, what 38 Special fan doesn't know all the words to these songs already? Lips and instruments out of sync with the audio? Yep, from time to time, just a hair. But I have seen this on many videos, and films, not just concerts. Some DVD's on some players just don't get along well and display this synch problem. I don't think it's fair to suggest this concert was overdubbed. If they went through that trouble, they would have improved the overall dynamics and detail at the same time. Definitely not recorded by some guy in the crowd with a camcorder. Yes, one particular camera solid-mounted somewhere mid-to-back audience was getting bumped quite often, but they used that camera only a few times. To the contrary, you can see several shots of a couple production guys using actual steady-cams in front of the stage. After seeing this DVD, I was going to buy the CD, until I found out the medley was not on it. Also, the two highest-energy songs of the whole concert are not on the CD: "Living in the USA" and "Travelin' Band". Not 38 Special songs, but man, those two songs were the best, highest-energy performances of the entire concert. I guess it's time to burn the audio track of this DVD onto a CD and call it a winner!

I recently purchased this DVD not knowing it has been available for some time. What a great concert. A typical .38 Special show, but I was looking for the "dueling drummers" that I have seen in concert. Love the camera work and presentation. I noticed very little discoloration in the video. But the time-coding on my DVD is messed up. The music to video matching is off all the way thru my disc. I would rate this production a 5 star if it was not for these errors. And I have emailed the label and they responded that they have not had any problems such as this brought to their attention, and offered to replace it if my place of purchased produced the same results on the 2nd one. My local retailer is currently out of stock, and will try that asap. So if yours does not have this problem, we are dealing with a 5 star recording of .38 Special!

I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED THE MUSIC BY 38 SPECIAL.I HAVEN'T ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO PIN POINT A SONG THAT IS THEIRS BUT COME TO FIND OUT BY TALKING TO FRIENDS THAT THEY WERE ACTUALLY THE POINT OF ALOT OF PRAISE FOR ALOT OF ROCK AND ROLL SONGS.THIS DVD CONCERT IS ABSOLUTELY ONE OF FINEST I HAVE SEEN. I CAN EASILY RATE IT RIGHT UP THERE WITH FLEETWOOD MAC'S "THE DANCE" AND BLONDIES"LIVE IN NEW YORK" WHICH BOTH COMPLETELY BLEW ME AWAY!THE COMPLETE PRODUCTION INCLUDING BOTH VIDEO,STAGE AND AUDIO WAS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW A REALLY PROFESSIONAL SHOW SHOULD BE PUT ON.I AM SAVING SPACE BY NOT LISTING THE SONGS THEY SING,OTHER THAN TO SAY IT HAS ALMOST ALL THEIR MAJOR HITS.IF YOU LIKE 38 SPECIAL AT ALL I WILL SAY WHAT I DID ABOUT THE BLONDIE AND FLEETWOOD MAC.DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND BUY THIS DVD-OR A LEAST THE VHS COPY.I REALLY CAN'T ANTICIPATE ANYONE THAT IS EVEN ALITTLE BIT FAMILIAR WITH 38 SPECIAL NOT LIKING THIS CONCERT.

ROCKIN'...into the night and I AM feeling good tonight!!!

I am sick and tired of all the techno-geeks wondering this and imagining that...

38 Special is one of the greatest bands of all time. With crisp vocals from Don Barnes, addictive attitude from Donnie Van Zant, power bass provided by the creative and devoted Larry Junstrom, Danny Chauncey guitar leads, Bobby Capps and Gary Moffatt, I am GRATEFUL to be the proud owner of this DVD!

Let's cut through the chase. If you remember how to rock, how to party, and how to bounce up and down with great classic MUSIC, then you will thoroughly enjoy this concert DVD Video, as a collector's item, performed at Sturgis.

Give it up to 38 Special.

Great looking concert but fair audio. Vocals are weak and hard to understand, music sounds flat and compressed like listening through a tin can.

Great concert and the band is in great form! The medley thing was not my personal favorite as I think this cuts up the material and just when you are enjoying the song they switched to a different song...too bad! That being said the DVD is good and a nice addition to any collection.
