5.0 out of 5 stars It's a no brainer
This product is a solid performer. Unlike other products where you may not be able to carry a notebook in its carrying case, the antenna slides and becomes flush with the body of the notebook. It might seem cosmetic, but the value added is very real.
Otherwise, the card performs as one would expect from a 3Com. The software (driver) is good. The default is to connect...

1.0 out of 5 stars defective
Supplied drivers would not install on XP laptop. Downloaded drivers from website and then got BSOD when device plugged in. No response to 4 emails over a 6 day period to company.

Otherwise, the card performs as one would expect from a 3Com. The software (driver) is good. The default is to connect to any available router.
There is another software product on the CD which allows you to connect adhoc to any other card but considering the security aspects, you might not wish to use that.

I used to use one of these wifi cards in my old Fujitsu Lifebook B2630 laptop running windows ME and this has been by far one of the best and most reliable wifi devices i have ever used. the retractable antenna makes it much more convenient than most PCMCIA wifi cards, 3coms software for this card, while not perfect (as i remember it) was better than most other software for handling wifi including (in my opinion) windows XPs own built in offering, it provided a stable wifi connection at varying speeds even down to signal strength in the single digits percentage! it also had better range (possibly in wireless B mode, i dont know for sure, it was a long time ago) than just about every wifi card or integrated wifi i have used since. if you need a PCMCIA wifi card i could not recommend this one more strongly!

I agree 100% with Abdel. This is the best solution for us that still have an older, but fully functional, computer that lives in a case. The card works very well and the spring-loaded, retractable antenna is an elegant design. I'm very impressed with the form and function of this device. The driver is fully XP compatible and I did not have to load the additional software to connect. This product really deserves SIX stars.
